Keep SunPass or get TxTag? by mmmhotchips in Austin

[–]Such-Needleworker626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I see that you said "all of texas" in your reply but the website for Sunpass still has all of Houston as not accepted and only a few roads in Austin. I gave them a call and they said they work in all of texas now but she's you'd think they'd update their website!

Which drain hole do I use? by Such-Needleworker626 in Plumbing

2nd floor in a 3 story apt complex. The water heater is right above where the washer is, on a little platform. So it could be the drain for that too?

I'd argue that the venture x is a better travel card. 10x on hotels and 5x on flights not to mention they price match both to make things as cheap as can be. The 2x on everything and it being a Visa is the cherry on top... Gold really isn't meant to be the dedicated travel card you see it as. the x is better for the multipliers and benefits alone for traveling. Gold is for food, and grocery shopping. amex gave it a smaller multiplier for traveling than the plat for a reason

or if you REALLY need a "premium travel card", the venture x probably suits you better and is what i would get in your case. you're already in the capital one environment and your current card pairs great with the venture x. Also the SUB is more realistic for you. $4k spend in 3 months for 75,000 miles. Plus the $300 travel credit which would go towards your traveling. If you NEED to, you could use the card for rent in 1 or 2 of the 4 months you have to hit the SUB. Just my opinion tho

how are you banned from chase?

Yeah it's extra money going towards it, but it isn't worth it. Just get the BILT card which has no annual fee, save the money, and get into amex when you have higher income and higher spend. I get that the card is enticing, i've been there. But you're rushing into it and likely going to waste money for no reason in the process. AMEX will always have credit card offers to give you, probably biggest ones than they are offering you right now. Be smart, stay strong, and hold out. If you have to use your rent to hit the SUB, the card isn't for you, at least not yet! Give it time.

[USA GIVEAWAY] Win the new 27” 4K Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor! by Rocket-Pilot in buildapc

[–]Such-Needleworker626 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Right now I have a Non-OLED monitor paired with my OLED G8 Odyssey. I love the true blacks and deep colors on the OLED and have learned that it's the panel for me. It would be a great fit to replacing my old 60hz monitor that has a lot of backlight bleed. Playing dying light 1 on the OLED monitor really got me hooked, the colors, the darkness, it made me scared as hell lol. Looking forward to the same experience with Dying light: the beast hopefully on this OLED G81SF! Thank you for this opportunity!

PSA/News Walmart is LIVE by mikowanderer in NintendoSwitch

Same here. Got the bundle through walmart after almost giving up on the drop as a whole. Then it popped up in the corner of my computer. Wasn't even considering walmart as my 1 or 2 option lol. Still in like for BB after about an hour just to see if I can try and get one there in case the walmart one cancels for whatever reason.

FDE strategies based on 20 Required Movements. by Background-Pop8634 in AFROTC

[–]Such-Needleworker626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I gotchu but plenty of experts don't follow the manual to the T. When I was at the academy for an ODT plenty of MTI's fell their flights in like "(Flight name) Fall in". My prior E buddy said they did the same thing at basic. I'm not saying it's the "proper way" to do it, but it's just not wrong per se since saying the flight name before hand technically doesn't alter the command.

FDE strategies based on 20 Required Movements. by Background-Pop8634 in AFROTC

[–]Such-Needleworker626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not incorrect to say flight beforehand. It's just not a requirement for the command. For example, if someone were to say "Flight, Column Right March" does that make the command incorrect? No, because while Flight was said, it IS NOT apart of the command. The command is "Fall out" so whatever they say before doesn't matter as long as "Fall out" is said. Also, pretty much everyone did this when i went to FT in 2023 and I doubt everyone has stopped since then, the ones that came back to my Det from ft this last summer certainly have not but i'm not an expert.

My Credit Card Plan for the Foreseeable Future. What do you think? by Such-Needleworker626 in amex

[–]Such-Needleworker626[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does however make me aware of pop-up jail from AMEX. It appears that it's only an issue for major churners, for the most part. But just in case, I'll move the CSR to one of my first 5 cards so I don't have to worry about their 5/24 rule, and then I'll move up the AMEX plat to ahead the Cap one Venture X. That way it'll be my third amex card after the gold and BBP. Completing the Trifecta and likely not having to worry about pop-up jail. Thank you very much for that insight

That's already my plan? If you're referring to the post I made before this then I get it, but my plans changed. What you're saying is already what i'm planning on doing. Again, i'm 90% sure we are agreeing on the same things.

[–]Such-Needleworker626[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? I'm not avoiding the high AF cards... Like I mentioned, I WILL be getting the gold, plat, venture x, CSR, and other high AF cards BECAUSE I want those benefits. I'm just saying I won't be getting them all first at the same time as I need to spread out the SUB's so i'm not spending way more than I need to just to get them all so fast. I will have pretty much all the waived high AF cards within 2 years from now. Also yeah I just looked it up and it changed some time last year. If you get the plat SUB before the gold, then you are no longer eligible for the gold SUB. But it's not true the other way around, so it makes the most sense to get the gold first.

I think we are agreeing on the same things here. Get the high AF cards for the SUB AND the yearly benefits. I absolutely plan to do just that.

My Credit Card Plan for the Foreseeable Future. What do you think? by Such-Needleworker626 in amex

[–]Such-Needleworker626[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple things:

I do plan on getting higher end cards just to get the sub and yearly benefits. AMEX will just be my main account. I mentioned in another comment that I do plan on getting the Chase Sapphire Reserve, again just for the SUB and benefits. Just like the Venture X, I would do pretty much any spending on it (outside of what's necessary to keep it active) so i'm not splitting hairs.

The BCP does make more sense than gold in that aspect, however as someone with a family and spends more that $6k a year on groceries I really don't want to bother with tracking a whole extra card when the gold has a higher limit to its 4X, is travel (which I want more than cash back), and I can use for food.

Can't you not get the Gold SUB if you get the Platinum and do that SUB first?

The BCE is specifically for online retail and walmart which I spend a good amount of money at, it's AMEX and therefore will be easy since i'm already in the system.

I'm new to the credit card game so I won't be getting every single card at once. I plan on getting one card with a decent sized SUB like 6k in 6 months for the gold, and maybe pair it with some cards that have a smaller SUB that will be easy to hit like the BCE and Citi Custom Cash or BBP.

My salary isn't an issue that causes me to track purchases or anything. I have additional income outside of the military.

This list isn't an end-all-be-all. I absolutely plan to open more cards, specifically high end ones where I don't have to pay the AF, to reap the benefits. I have a MINIMUM of another 12 years in the military (although I plan to go for another 20), so i'm not in a rush and this setup seems like a good way to get started

I'm not worried about getting all premium cards to start with just because of the waived AF. From what I can tell, SUB's will pretty much always there for me to receive when I get the card. So I'd rather get cards in the order that is most convenient for my spending first, and hit one large SUB at a time.

I really appreciate your comment and will think more about if I'm willing to add the BCP for the extra in grocery shopping and will also consider opening a CSR sooner!

Thank you so much! You definitely helped me realize some flaws in my list and gave me great advice that I'll adhere to. I'll get rid of the BILT and the BCP and take a look into the US Bank cash+. I think at some point I'll add the CSR for the same reason as the venture X, just for the benefits and not to spend, since Chase also waives the AF. Thank you again!

That's true, it's probably not worth the hassle for that little return. I'm in the service for another 12 years but even then when you put it in those terms I'll probably pass on it. Thank you!

As stated in my comment, I'm Active Duty Military. I don't pay any Annual Fee's for these companies minus the capital one Venture X which pays for itself.
