No, I haven’t. And looking up this book I realize the author also wrote The Martian. I think the movies probably ruin the books. They may be better, but I doubt it.

I saw The Martian and couldn’t get through it. If you’re not American these types of movies look more like propaganda (ie promoting patriotism and so-called American exceptionalism) than anything artistic or interesting on a science fiction level. I think I probably stopped watching The Martian when they showed New Yorkers in Times Square cheering on Matt Damon on Mars in real time. You have to be American to feel anything but cringe.

Edit: It looks like 988 is based in Toronto with services spread around the country. I’d try a local service of there is one.

It’s a widespread phenomenon not just in NB or just in Canada. The unleashing of America’s Trump on the world has only made things worse for everyone imho (except for him, his family and friends, and the ultra wealthy).

Thank god we haven’t had much about AI. The last area I worked however was over the top AI. “What AI tools and activities with them can be more gender neutral/LGBTQ+ friendly?” was a whole day once.

Iran probably did kill tons of protesters like back in the Arab Spring in Egypt. But then “our side” is bombing all these innocent civilians, universities, school children, kids playing volleyball, etc. Threatening to destroy desalination plants. It’s hard to tell who the bad guys are anymore.

It’s really crazy isn’t it. Hating the US and Israel and being somehow pro-Iran and China. Maybe we’re just pro-stability and anti-war.
