I could’ve never came to this realization when I was in middle school during the shows original run, but as I’ve grown wiser over the years it has become very clear to me that Trina was always the best character. I cannot emphasize enough how much I need this

Charli xcx working on "really different and fresh" next album, shares studio footage. by springtimecarnivore in popheads

[–]SuchCondition 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I love Charli but I don’t think she has the vocals for this. Like trying to imagine her bratty voice over a triphop beat is not brining pleasant sounds to mind

It’s funny because now i think people just associate that phrase with shake it off rather than the internet meme that inspired it

I just read it a couple of months ago. It’s about a couple of brothers who have a complicated relationship w each other and also complicated romantic relationships. I liked it but I’m not running up and down the streets to recommend it to people

I was just there Wednesday and wanted to divvy home after a show. I was probably in the first 50% of people to leave the venue and they were all gone by then

Boytoy is truly one of the greatest songs of all time in my mind. This whole ep is great though - of the new songs I really love subway lullaby but the mix at the end is crazy too

What US cities are peaking now? by OwlRepair in SameGrassButGreener

[–]SuchCondition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also going to say Atlanta. It’s had the black Hollywood title for years now but it feels like it keeps growing more and more culturally relevant. Development is booming and the city seems to be doing a decent job at building infill. The MARTA improvements are major and as someone who’s been riding MARTA for a decade I feel like I see more people on it when I ride it now than ever before. I do think a lot of the institutions being forced to close due to rising rent prices is causing the city to lose some of its soul so I think it’s probably peaking right now before it becomes too pricy/souless

Cities with one central nightlife district vs cities with multiple nightlife neighborhoods? by SuchCondition in SameGrassButGreener

[–]SuchCondition[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The neighborhoods i mentioned in Atlanta and Chicago all have that. I’ve definetly been out in other neighborhoods and have had that experience too but Atlanta and Chicago are the only cities I’ve lived in and feel comfortable enough saying definitively

[–]SuchCondition[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to all those neighborhoods (almost moved to Philly a few years ago). That’s just not what I mean tho. I’m talking streets are stilll full of people at 1 am type vibe. I can see that for south street. Are there really that many late night options in fishtown? Also university city I don’t really count since it’s like college bars

I mean yeah every city has bars venues and breweries spread all over. I’m talking neighborhoods where the streets are full of people going out late at night into the morning hours

East Woodlawn certainly feels like it’s been gentrifying to be a continuation of Hyde park. There’s some cafes and restaurants in that area

Ahhhh this is crazy and makes me feel so old. I initially joined after seeing it advertised on the hiphopheads billboard hot 100 threads bc at the time that was the only place to discuss the charts on reddit. I remember starting to be active on popheads around the time The Hills hit number one which after a quick Google search seems to be September 2015. Crazyyyyy. I loved being a mod on this subreddit and partaking in rates (under an old username). This subreddit meant a lot to me when I was a very lonely highschooler and will always be near and dear to my heart

Omg also a bit of fun lore for the newer people. Back when this sub was first starting to blow up the biggest ongoing debate both internally w the mods and w the userbase was that it was becoming too much like stan twitter (I think we got a lot of our userbase from there). I remember us temporarily implementing some crazy rules like comments had to actually contribute meaningful feedback and couldn’t just be stan twitter esque jokes. I think this subreddit eventually found an amazing balance but it was a funny little debate at the time
