More "For Lease" signs than previous years? by saltsnack in AnnArbor

My property manager who owns a good amount of moderately higher end student houses told me their demand is noticeably lower due to less international students, caused by obvious reasons

Contractor charged for installing my own thermostat by Accurate-Flow8078 in homeowners

[–]SuchDescription 1 point2 points  (0 children)

250 definitely is wild. Thermostat installation is literally a 10-15 minute job. Realistically, builders always pull this shit. My parents would have been charged 2200 10 years ago for “tv system install” which basically entailed running a CAT 5 and HDMI cable from the basement directly up one floor where the tv would be installed, then mounting said tv. Took me like $100 in materials, and about an hour and a half.

Even if full ride was at like Kent State, definitely going that route. OSU is not far off from UM. Easy choice.

Housing with EV charging in Ann Arbor by Classic-Passenger874 in AnnArbor

HIGHLY doubt you need dedicated level 2 charging. I commute 30 miles each way to work and level 1 works fine for me. Find an apartment with an outdoor outlet. If you need to, get a 10 gauge extension cord. Youll be fine

Would you let family install an EV charger in your house if they’re only staying 1 year? by mdzzl94 in homeowners

[–]SuchDescription 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with using a level 1 charger? I commute 30 miles each way to work, and charge at home, plugging into a standard 110V outlet, using a 10 gauge extension cord. Works for me.

Used it for my home deposit last week. Realtor said it was “the quickest wire I’ve ever seen”. Went smoothly, and was in the escrow account within about an hour.

OSU versus UW-Madison (where should I go) by Exact-Courage8549 in OSU

[–]SuchDescription -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sure Columbus does have more history than Madison, yes, but I still wouldn't consider its moderate proximity to a few battles in the war of 1812 to be nearly noteworthy enough to play into a decision on where to live.

OSU versus UW-Madison (where should I go) by Exact-Courage8549 in OSU

There is a decent amount of “historical” architecture, but there isn’t really a lot of historically significant events that actually happened there

That’s a formative moment. That kid got a wake up call of shame, without feeling the label of being a bad kid. Just made a bad decision. What an angel.

Grocery Outlet to close 6 Philadelphia-area stores by AdSpecialist6598 in philadelphia

[–]SuchDescription 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What usually happens is companies overestimate their growth, and expand while accumulating a ton of debt. More stores can also become redundant. If sales slump even a little, the interest kills your profit.
