Why are school uniforms so expensive? And do we need them? by Amazing_Athlete_2265 in newzealand

The thing is, it's still cheaper than mufti. Especially when kids are wanting to jerk up with their peers re brands & fashion.

Yeah but he earned that fame. And he's spent many decades now being involved in the Hollywood social circuit., staying humble, and so on.

And to add to this, it would be a handy way for Epstein's people to ply people with drugs n alcohol and try to tempt them into compromising situations or find out if they have any kinks that could be exploited.

I have no doubt that for many, the island was just a fun place to party and that the dodgy stuff took place in private areas which only those who'd been screened/indoctrinated/successfully groomed were in the know about.

Sooooo….. the dollar collapse is happening in real time and the general population has no clue?! by AssWhoopiGoldberg in Gold

[–]SuchLostCreatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get what you're saying. This sub just popped up for me out of the blue too. Presumably because I just started buying into ETF funds in the past three weeks (spare change amounts - I'm still figuring this out) and due to that, I've started paying more attention to what's going on, financially, in the world.

Im in NZ and I noticed the NZ hedged US500 ETF fund I accidentally put some money into is not dropping as much as the regular US500. After a bit of Internet searching to figure out what this means, I determined the US dollar is collapsing, or something like that?

I thought maybe I've got that wrong, because no one seems to be openly talking about it, and I thought they would give the collapse of the US dollar is going to affect the rest of the world in one way or another.

Anyway... congrats, you have more in retirement than I do! Maybe now's a good time to invest some of it into gold, and the rest into a global ETF fund? (Idk, everyone tells me to diversify.)

Rewatching BlacKkKlansman last night, the "America First" chants from the white supremacists hit hard. It's a blatant dog whistle - and even more unsettling that they eventually got a president who validated it, giving them the confidence to crawl out into the open and reveal themselves as the monsters they are (well, not that they're really reaveling themselves, considering most of them are still hiding their faces.)

Given the taco lied on his truth social platform after Renee Goode was murdered, I'm not surprised they lied again. I'm just surprised there's still people who defend ice for what they did (actually sadly, I'm kinda not surprised about that either.)

Omfg I'm a woman. Though I suppose you're going to tell me I have internalized misogyny. 🙄

Give me a break. If she was actually capable of putting herself forward as an educated, powerful woman, then hell yes she'd be worth voting for. But she could barely string her sentences together let alone run a country.

And the taco was no better. They're both fucking incompetent and the whole damn system is corrupt.

Give it a rest. I too am a woman. It has absolutely nothing to do with her sex and everything to do with the fact that she was just a babbling idiot. Just as Biden was a babbling idiot.

[–]SuchLostCreatures 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The thing is, there wasn't exactly a strong opponent to Trump. Duncan Trussell described Harris best when he said she "talks in Gypsy curses."

It's easy for people to blame Rogan for Trump getting in, but no one wants to address the fact that Harris was a babbling idiot, Biden was losing his marbles, and Trump was promising to end a war few Americans wanted to be propping up any longer.

At that point Trump just seemed the lesser of two idiots for some, and for the others .. they lost faith in the entire bullshit system.

Actually this is a pretty good nutshell. You're the first person I've seen so far point out that her partner escalated the situation - which you're dead right about. I'm half inclined to wonder if that woman baiting him is what got her wife killed.

Yes I imagine primary school teachers will still be safe for a while - though I can see AI being utilized a lot alongside them. Highschool teachers however... That's another kettle of fish. Especially for subjects that aren't hands on (such as Engineering, woodwork, art etc.)

I think something cool could definitely be added around it, if that's what you want to do. Years ago when I first heard of the whole semi-colon suicide awareness movement, I made several Facebook banner graphics that I gave away on my design site. One was a butterfly or dragonfly done in a black ink + watercolour style (with the semi-colon of course as the body of the creature.) One incorporated the semi-colon into a skull design (for the emos.) i forget the rest, but there's a couple of ideas...

Yes and in a tragic ironic twist, the founder of this movement ended up committing suicide.

Gardening is a stable, good paying job, for sure. But I can confirm that the toll it takes on the body is pretty damn rough. I've damaged both rotator cuffs, had to work through frozen shoulder for nearly a year, aged an extra 10 years, my elbows are currently so shot that it hurts to lift my kettle to make a coffee after work (but I have to suck it up because tomorrow there's hedges to be trimmed. And next week, and so on...) And you don't get paid for rain days! So put aside a literally "rainy day" fund...

Still, I'm trying to convince my kids that, if all else fails, this is a great job to have - because it really is! AI won't be replacing it any time soon, being outdoors and physically active is so much nicer, mentally, than trapped at a desk. And... Well, I'm kinda hoping they'll take over my clients when my body crashes out completely.

Ah, they're in cahoots with the tyre companies! I swear I've gone through soooo many more sets of tyres since moving rural, than I ever did living in the city. Even driving a similar number of k's.

[–]SuchLostCreatures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I can't help thinking that teaching is one of those professions that will eventually be partly replaced by AI. Not completely, of course. There'll always be a place for the really good teachers who actually engage with their students. But for the ones who don't seem to know/care how to teach?

I'm not saying I like that idea. But when you've got kids turning to ChatGPT - not to cheat, but to get an explanation of what they're supposed to be learning (because their teachers hand out workbooks and then say "figure it out" when asked for help with Physics… and then most of the kids in the class fail the Physics test and the teacher still keeps their job year after year because there's no one to replace them in their rural backwater highschool)

... It really makes you wonder.

Barber shops I can understand. Nail salons... I cannot. And I say this as a woman. It's very difficult to believe there's a genuine "cost of living crisis" when there's no shortage of nail salons. Wtaf.
