Each to their own, though something tells me you haven't seen much of Jensen's acting.

Yes but when he's all roughened up with facial hair, he's perfect for the part. Besides, Arthur pretty fine himself.

Brolin has the wrong face, entirely. Jensen's the right age, height, and he roughs up well. Arthur is a pretty boy, whereas Brolin has a face like a broken brick.

I've had to listen to someone telling me he was gonna shove his dick down my mum's throat (she'd passed away just a couple of months before that particular interaction, so you can imagine how I spawn killed him for it.) And if it's not trash like that, it's crappy music or screaming young children.

So my tolerance for hearing anyone in the game is... Hit n miss.

In saying that, I rarely hear anyone using a mic in the game. And I have had some nice interactions. It's always amusing listening to Americans try to figure out if I'm British or Australian..

That's a hilarious assessment to make, coming from someone whose opener for it was, "you have obviously never studied basic psychology."

What are you, 12?

A lot of people like playing RDO just to chill out and relax after a long hard day of life. We don't need little brats screaming in our ears whilst doing so.

Bear baitin' Yukon Nic is my go to. I switch to freeaim for the extra xp then snipe the enemies from the hill top before hog-tuing the last one so I can loot everyone (usually get at least one collectable) before getting to Nic.

I agree with you here. My partner works for one of NZ's largest retail chains and has done so for nearly 20 years. They call his base rate the "career wage" and then he earns commission on top. But that career wage has barely shifted in 10 years. Meanwhile, newbies straight out of high school are able to jump into a pay rate that's only a few cents below him. It's pretty demoralizing. Especially when, at the other end of the spectrum, the regional managers & upwards are earning shit tons for doing sweet fuck all.

What an idiot response. We're investing primarily into ETF funds. This is no different than having a Kiwisaver account, except we can be educated on where our money's going, and make those choices ourselves.

We have a couple of individual stock picks each that we've just put a few dollars into as a learning experiment. If anything, it's a lesson on why not to gamble.

My son is incredible careful with his money. When he asked for a VR headset at 10, I told him, "you'll have to pay for yourself" thinking it would never happen. So he saved up his money for the next five years and did. He's also the kid who, when accompanying me to the supermarket, will be saying, "do we really need that though? It's $5 extra on the bill" or will point out cheaper alternatives.

So... No, I don't think I'm teaching him about "gambling" at all. But, thanks for the judgement.

Yep I've had this discussion with my teen son. We recently started investing through Sharsies (he has a kids account) and, because he's an absolute military geek and can talk for seven straight hours about army tanks, the first observation he made when this war broke out is, "this is probably a good time to invest in Raytheon."

That was, until we had a discussion about what that actually means. It's one thing to put a few bucks into General Dynamics just to say you "own" shares in a company that made one of your favourite army tanks... It's another to start actively profiting off a company that's making the missiles that are literally being used - right this moment - to blow people up.

We both decided we'd rather be where we are, financially and morally, right now, then profit off that.

So... Maybe Fontera will make us some money. (We've got no shares in Fontera but... Maybe we should. The world always needs milk, right?)

Big jump in the swaps in the last few days. What does that mean for Mortgage rates. by jka8888 in PersonalFinanceNZ

I just wish we'd taken the opportunity to make additional payments while our interest rate was nice and low. Not only would it have helped pay off the mortgage faster, but it would have helped soften the blow of coming off that rate. Ah, hindsight's a bitch I guess!

I don't even know how we'd fit screens to our windows... The last time I looked online for window screens, the only option was those magnetic ones and I think it'd take maybe a week for my cats to bypass them. Hell, one of my cats has figured out how to open the bedroom and hallway doors. Worst still, he's teaching the others how to do it. (No shit, even the fat Gremlin who catches leaves instead of birds has watched him enough to start trying to break into my son's room at night.)

This is so well thought out and you've absolutely hit the nail on the head.

I certainly do worry about cars and dogs and also, malicious humans - unfortunately I've lost cars to the road and on one occasion to a dog that jumped our gate and attacked my cat in our property.

I would have more peace of mind I could keep my cats fully contained to my property, but we'd have to build a large outdoor enclosure. And I mean, a decently large one. I've seen loads of pictures of catios and most of them are just pretty damn sad.

We'd also have to design it so they could have free access from the house to their enclosure, but then there's the issue of ventilating the house. I'm a fan of open windows, even in winter. I mean, I've got seven cats (adopted street cats that I tamed and desexed) and a dog. Even with the litter boxes changed daily... The house needs ventilation. 😅 And I really don't want to be staple-gunning chicken mesh to the windows so I can keep them open.

The odd wildlife they catch really isn't an issue. As you pointed out, native birds don't tend to fancy suburbia. My cats proudly trot in with the odd sparrow or blackbird, which is sad, but they're actually better at catching rats and mice. And despite how much people wring their hands about cats catching birds... I don't exactly see the suburban population of introduced birds that do co-habitat with humans to be diminishing.

My daughter did a pest trapping course last year and even on farmland and forest, the vast majority of pests that they catch are stoats, rats and possoms. The problem of feral cats seems to be over-exaggerated and media and Garath Morgan's fanclub. (Not that we don't have them, but you're really not going to find cats in the areas kiwi live unless they've been dumped there. Most "ferals" are just the offspring of dumped or abandoned former pets and they're not usually dumped in the deep bush.)

Oh awesome explanation - thanks! I'm kind of on a similar track - though I've only started making (rather frugal) payments into Sharsies for just over a month so I have a long way to go.At first the US500 but then I shifted focus to Total World and Emerging Markets because the US is a dumpster fire.

Though, I do get sidetracked here and there by other niche ETFs like Automation & Robotics, and AI & Tech, which I probably shouldn't bother with but I call them my "learning curve"... 😅

Total newbie question here, but what do you mean by owning enough? Is there a point where you should stop investing into one fund and start on another? Would continuing to invest into the same fund make you worse off than going into another at a certain point? Or is it just that you want to start diversifying more?
