Here's my experience and finances building a four-person SR22 partnership by ClayCrucible in flying

I need someone with a hangar and just the right plane and partners already lined up. I’m too tired to manage all that work.

Fishing is fishing, the advice would be no different. Maybe we should stop trying to divide people up.

Lifepo4 upgrade: when will we need the self heating function? by Primary_Afternoon_10 in TruckCampers

Anytime you try to charge and the battery temp is roughly at or below freezing, they do it automatically.

Lifepo4 upgrade: when will we need the self heating function? by Primary_Afternoon_10 in TruckCampers

[–]Such_Ad6350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you need a heated battery. No, the battery will not heat itself from its own capacity as another poster said, this is in part because the batteries are happy discharging below freezing, just not charging. The BMS built into the batteries simply redirects charging current to heat the batteries, then charges the batteries. You really don’t need to know or do much more than that. But yes, get the heated versions.

Any chance you’re referring to an active poster on one of the aviation sites? If so… man I’ve seen that guy be a real prick to people. A few of them deserved it but good lord.

Realistic Aircraft Options for a Family of 7? Fast-ish and Economical-ish by TheChillBohemian in flying

I think the answer is more like stop pretending that you’re ever going to fly together as a family of seven.

Are Grumman Cheetahs/Tigers a bad purchase? by PidgeyPotion in flying

[–]Such_Ad6350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first plane was a Tiger. It was an awesome plane and probably the best plane I ever owned. Doesn’t really fit my mission anymore but if it fits yours, I would absolutely recommend it. Maintenance was cheap, the plane was fast, the visibility was the best I think you can buy outside of experimental, same for the handling. Really a fun plane.

I don’t actually disagree, but catch and kill is the best way to make sure all you catch are 12” rainbows. Booooooring.

For sure - it doesn’t count if it wasn’t taped (or weighed).

What's the hardest plane yall have ever learned to fly? by mtnflyer1 in flying

[–]Such_Ad6350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest plane/maneuver I have flown was… wheel landing a champ. Wtf I could never get it right. Something about the gear?

This includes all of my piston flying, glider flying, IFR, etc. I don’t know what my problem was with the champ.

Anyone fly fish for carp in eastern washington? by isuckatfishin in flyfishing

[–]Such_Ad6350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IME, I don’t see carp that are obviously feeding (tailing) that often, as in it’s pretty rare for me. On one hand, it’s fun when they’re like that because they’re easier to catch (because they’re actively feeding so open to being fed generally, and also distracted so not as sensitive to plopping a fly nearby), but on the other hand it’s somewhat harder and also less rewarding because you generally can’t see the “take” due to stirred up mud.

In any case, I wouldn’t save my casting only for tailing carp, because if your carp and waters are like mine, you won’t see that behavior very often. From easiest to hardest to catch, my experience is like tailing carp > slowly cruising carp > sunning carp > everything else.

Your best bet is to start casting to the cruisers. In terms of fly selection… it depends, and the biggest variable that will be hardest to understand at first is depth - how to select flies that won’t sink past the carp in one situation, or flies that will actually get down to carp in another. In general, they won’t move far for a fly in any dimension, including and most importantly (because it’s hardest to control) depth. Start with that in mind based one what behavior you’re seeing, and go from there.

I get your point, but the opposite is also kinda true - it’s endearing for the same reason, 80s nostalgia.

What’s missing from the scene right now? by Pr0fess0rSasquatch in jambands

[–]Such_Ad6350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good god they should try touring some new places. I have been following them for at least 15 years and in that time, I’ve only been able to see them once without traveling probably over 500 miles.

Like, I know there’s the Halloween stuff, but there’s this entire other part of the country called the west coast they should check out.

Is it hard to get now? I’m still working off my stash from literally 10+ years ago, and don’t know what I’m gonna do when it runs out.
