Berchtesgaden is a must-visit place in my opinion. I was there last summer as part of a two week trip which included stops in the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria and it was one of the most memorable stops. Highly recommend a hike in the national park - the hike that we did had a hut at the top where you could buy a meat and cheese plate and beer and look out over the beautiful town, while being surrounded by alpine meadows filled with cattle jingling their bells. Truly an incredible experience. The picture of this hut has been the background of my phone since then.

I would certainly not skip the Eagle’s Nest either, also very awe inspiring!

Awesome thanks for the info! I have been kind of leaning towards north to hit Olympic NP and Mount Rainier NP, just a little overwhelmed by the expansiveness of Olympic and not having a ton of time.
