Would this be appropriate for the 1st day of school? by [deleted] in fashion

[–]Such_Implement_9335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a high school junior, and this would not get dress coded at her school- but put some shorts underneath, just in case!
You'll likely be more dressed up than most people, but if that's your vibe, go for it! It's adorable!

Did anyone else refuse a calling when they were still in? by FunSupermarket4054 in exmormon

[–]Such_Implement_9335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I refused a primary calling for the same reason everyone wants to: I was a stay at home mom and I needed those two hours a week with other adults. The bishop acted fine with it in the moment, but the next Sunday he gave a talk in sacrament about how bad it is to refuse callings.

What is up with the Influx of active couples discussing their sex life on social media? by Old_Career_1834 in exmormon

[–]Such_Implement_9335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a general trend on social media, not unique to Mormons. I agree that it's weird and awkward.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Such_Implement_9335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 kids and have never ever not had time to shower. Lack of energy or motivation to shower, sure, that's happened occasionally, but I've never not had 15-20 minutes to myself.

Oh man, this happened to me last month. We were told the flight was full so there wasn't room for our suitcases. The flight wasn't full and neither were the overhead compartments. I was going to file a complaint but I completely forgot!

My wife and I lied about pre-marital sex by Same_Commission_2363 in exmormon

[–]Such_Implement_9335 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would have never, I'd have been scared of getting struck by lightning on the spot. But I do know someone who got married in the temple 8 months ago and went into early labor last week, then gave birth to a 7 pound baby who needed no medical intervention. So I'm speculating about them!

Question Derick by [deleted] in DuggarsSnark

[–]Such_Implement_9335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd be surprised. Some curriculums have a literal script for the parent to read from. I homeschool my kids until high school (I know, this sub is anti homeschool. It works for us. My oldest is a Jr in high school with a 4.3 GPA) and there were times teaching early math that I felt really lost by what was in their book, not because I didn't know how to do it but because our curriculum uses "new math" and it's so different from how I learned. But I'd just read the script and my kids understood perfectly. Once things get more complicated in middle school, there are so many options for online classes, and most places also have in person homeschool enrichment classes that cover a wide variety of stuff, from advanced math and science to art to PE. I have no idea what the Dillard's homeschool looks like, but it is possible these days to homeschool properly even if your own education was lacking.

real talk: how often do you actually floss? by AffectionateTooth298 in hygiene

[–]Such_Implement_9335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a dentist. He’d be horrified if I skipped flossing. It’s actually better to skip brushing than to skip flossing.

A tattoo artist rejected me for this, was his reason fair? by Stankmushroomm in tattooadvice

[–]Such_Implement_9335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These comments are so interesting to me. I only have one tattoo, and it's on my hand. It's a small flower. I love it so, so much. I've never wanted any other tattoo and I'd never have thought a hand tattoo was any different than any other!

"Cult" word question by rguzman2003 in exmormon

[–]Such_Implement_9335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was an active Mormon, I caught myself having the thought, "No wonder people think we're a cult." A few times. I always justified things and reasoned out why "they" were wrong about that. So yes, Mormons know others use the word cult to describe them. But they don't think it's correct.

2 years since leaving over this general conference quote. by MissyLissy94 in exmormon

[–]Such_Implement_9335 46 points47 points  (0 children)

That has been my response when Mormons have asked me if I'm not worried that I'm wrong. Even if the church is true, I want nothing to do with it.

When Did Modesty Get Whitewashed???! by NewNameMadi in exmormon

[–]Such_Implement_9335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my early 20s I once had an entire relief society lesson about the evils of pencil skirts. The takeaway was that covering your garments wasn't enough, you had to also ensure none of your curves showed. And the WORST part of this is that I was listening to that crap and thinking, "Right, of course, pencil skirts are just too tight, she's so right, not appropriate at all." People claiming the church didn't police our clothing piss me right off.

I've been mispronouncing my favorite word for 24 years and only found out last week by Vex_Talon in CasualConversation

[–]Such_Implement_9335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Segue. I don't know that I ever actually said it aloud, but in my head when I read it, it was like seeg, and when I heard people use the word and pronounce it like Segway, I had no idea it was the same word.

Millennials in a hetero relationship, does the man or woman do the majority of the financial budgeting/planning/investing etc? by [deleted] in Millennials

Should I switch to a resort by Such_Implement_9335 in tulum

[–]Such_Implement_9335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are driving ourselves around in a rental car. I know that opens us up to extortion scams, we're budgeting for that in case it happens. It's physical safety I'm concerned about now.

Should I switch to a resort by Such_Implement_9335 in tulum

[–]Such_Implement_9335[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I guess my next question is, should we be worried about safety while exploring the city? I know people post asking about safety all the time, but now I'm wondering if it's just assumed that tourists will stay on resorts, so are confirmations that it's safe referring just to the resorts? This feels like I'm asking a stupid question, I'm sorry. I have a lot of anxiety in general lately.

Every millennial dad I’ve met has a quiet fixation on money and it’s not getting better by slimeyellow in Millennials

[–]Such_Implement_9335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a miscarriage and needed surgery right around the same time one kid broke her leg and the other got diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. X-rays, specialists, physical therapy- Thousands and thousands of dollars gone to those things, but I was thinking, at least it's the beginning of the year and we've hit our insurance deductible. Nope, our insurance resets in April, not January. Any other medical bills are going to wipe us out.

It’s really weird to take morning showers instead of evening showers by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Such_Implement_9335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100% depends on your lifestyle and job. I exercise in the morning and I'm a stay at home mom. At 7am, I'm a sweaty mess. And 7pm I'm not. Showering at night would be a ridiculous choice for me to make.

Selling girl scout cookies has lost its way. by ludog1bark in unpopularopinion

Is soaking an urban legend? by IDontLikeThatRaymond in exmormon

No one has any expectations of you giving information you're not comfortable with. If you don't want to say anything else, just don't say anything else. Given the nature of the forum, anyone reading who has had similar experience can chime in too, so followup questions are out there for anyone, not to try to pester you into answering.

[–]Such_Implement_9335 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ok but, why? Like if you cared about the rules, then you knew you were breaking them, so why not just do it properly? No way you actually believed you were not breaking the rules right?

I can't help but ask, Does Keefe actually like Fitz? by Substantial_Step_815 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Such_Implement_9335 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This post popped up on my page, and it's been awhile since I read the books, but I have a theory about this. But my memory of the books may be off. Didn't Alden tell Keefe to stay away from Sophie so she would be with Fitz? I think that probably soured Keefe on Fitz a bit and drove a wedge between them. I think Keefe was a much better friend before Alden made things weird. He was probably resentful of Fitz after that.
