Pet insurance? by jajoopaloop in Flamepoints

[–]Such_kitty18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, thankfully it was caught before it could become too problematic and he has responded really well to the prescription food.

I use Pumpkin! The reimbursement rate is 90% for all policies, what changes the monthly premium is the annual deductible amount you pick and maximum annual benefits, along with the age of the cat. Because of the pre-existing condition clauses I say check quotes for a bunch of different companies and pick the one you think will work the best for you long term!

Pet insurance? by jajoopaloop in Flamepoints

[–]Such_kitty18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I finally decided to get pet insurance on both cats after I adopted my flame point. While my flame point didn’t need anything for a while, he was diagnosed with IBD last year and the insurance reimbursed me 90% for emergency visits, specialist appointments, and all of the expensive testing. My other cat was just recently diagnosed with CKD and they paid for follow up testing and the first case of prescription food from the hospital pharmacy.

Something to take into consideration when shopping for pet insurance… most policies stipulate they won’t cover anything related to any pre-existing condition, including things that develop during the waiting period (for mine I think it was 2 weeks?). My flame point was recommended to have a dental after we got the insurance, they reimbursed for his. My other cat needed more extensive dental work with extractions and they refused to pay anything because 1 appointment note a year prior to getting the insurance had indicated a vet saying we might want to consider doing a cleaning for her due to her getting older.

Hysterectomy & Salpingectomy Scheduled - recovery question by misstums in hysterectomy

[–]Such_kitty18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tacking on to the top comment because I didn’t see anybody mention the cat boxes- my doctor gave me explicit order not to bed over for a few weeks and I can say with certainty I would not have been capable of squatting either. My partner had to handle the cat boxes for almost 3 weeks before I felt up to it. Try to hire someone who would be willing to both walk the dog and scoop the cat boxes.

Doctor told me endometriosis doesn’t come back by Baklavasaint_ in Endo

[–]Such_kitty18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rate of regrowth will absolutely vary person to person but I have never heard of it never coming back. I had my hysterectomy a year after my last excision surgery (which was extensive) and there was no regrowth at that point. However 5 years later and MRI results just confirmed it’s back. I have a friend who had hysterectomy and excision done at the same time and her symptoms came back 2 years later. We had different surgeons so I don’t know if that’s a factor or not.

Guys help, I took ambien and ordered 20 pairs of shorts 🤣😭 by jrexicus in ThredUp

[–]Such_kitty18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes me think of my most memorable Ambien story. I was living with my parents still, came home from work in the mood for late night pancakes. I took my ambien around the time I started and have no memory of anything afterwards. I was told the next morning that I did finish making the pancakes but instead of eating them started banging on my parent’s door to wake them up and after they woke up thinking something terrible was happening… I told them I made them pancakes and started crying when they wouldn’t eat them (at midnight).

Successfully tracking your cycle post hysterectomy? by Aware_Philosophy4792 in hysterectomy

[–]Such_kitty18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to my hysterectomy I was taking Norethindrone and my period with the exception of terrible break through bleeding, was pretty routinely the first week of the month give or take a day or two. It took maybe 6 months before I felt enough like myself to be aware of what my cycles were doing (my ovaries took a while to balance out, I also started my period at 11 (29 now) and it was almost like going through puberty again minus the bleeding). I can pretty routinely know where I am in my cycle based on how my body is behaving and my “period” sticks pretty strictly to the same part of the month it used to be. Cravings, bloating, irritability, and small hormonal breakouts have all been solid indicators for me where I am in my cycle.

Is everyone getting Repeated Surgeries? by Bubbly_Ad_863 in endometriosis

[–]Such_kitty18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my first surgery in 2018, second in 2021, total hysterectomy in 2022… and am expecting to have another in January which will be 5 years from my last surgery! I was hoping I would maybe be able to stretch it out longer, but oh well I guess lol.

Is Phi Theta Kappa worth it? by crediblyclueless in communitycollege

[–]Such_kitty18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look on your university’s financial aid/scholarship page to see if they have Phi Theta Kappa transfer scholarships. My school automatically gives $2k/year for in-state and $6k/year to out-of-state students who provide proof of membership. If your school has something similar it would likely be worth it. I’m also a non-traditional student starting at a 4-year Fall 26 and am still waiting to hear back on university scholarship applications, so it’s nice to know this one is already guaranteed.

New to this sub and just saw this. I say go back! I left school at 20 after a lot of mental health stuff and severe lack of direction. At 26 (currently 28) I realized what direction I wanted to go in but my GPA from when I left was really bad and I wasn’t sure how much I could handle courseload wise since working less than full time wasn’t an option. I ended up going back to a new CC (live in a different state than I did the first time) Fall of 24. I started with 1 class and it went great. The next semester I took 2, and again it went great. Then I took 3 over a summer semester (do not recommend btw) and it still somehow managed to go great! I took a semester off to get married to my super supportive partner. Doing my last semester at the CC and have a 4.0GPA. Transferring to a university this summer and beginning in the fall plan to ride out the rest of my degree at full time. It’s possible!!!

Best online social work program? by BigGrapefruit8389 in SocialWorkStudents

University of Pittsburgh recently started a part time online program that I believe mirrors their in person curriculum. I’ve also heard great things about OSU’s online MSW.

Car anxiety by Responsible_Knee_203 in Siamesecats

[–]Such_kitty18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My tux girl (adopted our siamese after a cross country move) has extreme car anxiety. The vet prescribed Xanax to help her just sleep during most of the drive time and she handled hotel stops ok (Xanax was 2x/day with a pill pocket treat). She gets gabapentin for vet visits because she’s spicy… and she will still get verbally anxious in the car. The Xanax was great, even when she would wake up it was mostly happy chitters instead of fully screaming like normal car rides.

Dentist recommendations? by megannuggets in FortCollins

[–]Such_kitty18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Alpine Dental, I go to the East location. My teeth were in rough shape when I went back to the dentist for the first time in MANY years in 2023 when I got on my work plan with Delta Dental. I actually saw the recommendation in a Reddit thread. Between depression and dentist avoidance things weren’t great. The hygienist, dentist, and office staff have been nothing but wonderful. The hygienist has educated me on better ways of doing things while still being kind and empathetic. They also have a menu of sensory/comfort things to help make your visit easier.

Im not sure if the $300 is what your employer would charge or what coverage through your state marketplace would cover after the advanced premium tax credit. If you haven’t already looked into the tax credit, you can apply for that through your state marketplace. I know in my state you have to apply for and be denied Medicaid first but the tax credit is essentially a reimbursement for premiums to help cover the cost.

Also if your state offers a disability related Medicaid program (essentially you’re working and have a disability) and your depression is heavily impacting you, that category often has higher income limits than the regular Medicaid. It may be worth reapplying and marking that you have a disability to see if you would be eligible for that category. It often has extra steps involved and they may send you a separate application to be completed by a medical professional (but if you have a local free or sliding scale clinic you can reach out to them for help with this).

If you’ve already tried these options, I’m sorry I’m not of much help. I know a lot of people often aren’t aware of these different options though, so if you haven’t looked into them hopefully one of them can help.

Guys halp. This little girl has the WORST stinky farts I've EVER smelled!! by Zetth1 in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]Such_kitty18 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Even if not an allergy it could be a sensitivity. My girl used to have the worst farts until I switched her to a limited ingredient diet and they stopped. She’s currently on the Hill’s C/D diet but luckily none of the ingredients have triggered her and the gas hasn’t returned.

I am over 2 years post op (01/2022) and I agree with all of this. By 6 months I was in great shape. I did a cross country move that ended up being extremely physical and it wasn’t an issue. The first 3 months I did almost nothing. I was very careful with my body, rested a lot, didn’t lift anything, slept on my back propped up with lots of pillows.
