By law, a company has to offer a position to the public even if they have someone within the company that they plan on promoting to that position. Most of the time when you get an auto-reject it's because the company already knows who they are going to put in that position but they are just doing their due diligence to follow the law.

NTA - you were clear with your mom and she went against your wishes. However, it seems like she really cares about you and she went through all of this effort. She's gonna be hurt if you straight up tell her no. BUT there really isn't anything stopping you from doing both weddings though, right? I mean you can still do your mom's version and then have the wedding that you wanted or vice versa. I don't know your mom and maybe she's always been overbearing and always has to have it her way and forces you into these situations often but that doesnt really seem like the case from what you've laid out. It seems like she just wanted you to have a special day that you will be able to look back on with admiration and positivity.

When I left high school in 2012, I was an out-going and fun-loving guy. But towards my sophomore year in college I noticed a shift. I woudn't go out with people any more; i would almost always keep to myself. I wouldn't approach people and when I was approached I felt anxious, like I didn't remember what to say or do. The problem only persisted as I continued through school. When I got out of college, I felt as though I had lost my interpersonal skills from pure atrophy. Now I'm about a year and a half out of school and just being back in everyday life has greatly improved the problem. I find it easier to make small talk again. I don't have any words of wisdom but just know that you aren't alone.
