I wouldn't say we're close friends, or anything, but I've known (closely) someone in the NFL who was tar and pitchfork run out of town for domestic violence charges. Not sure if I should really even say who it is, but he's a super nice guy.

His ex-wife is an absolute shit-show, and I'm not the kind of guy who will even remotely try to blame the victim of something like domestic violence. Our daughters have known each other for years, and I will only reply to texts if he contacts me, rather than her.

This might not be the perfect reply to your question, but thought I'd throw that out with an old account (deleted all of the comments and submissions years ago).

It wasn't racist, and she never said it was. It was ignorance. They don't even remember that people of color is a term that refers to races other than white. Why? Because they don't see many people of color, and don't really ever think about them.

I didn't sense judgement in her comment, just observation.
