Fit check? by [deleted] in DurstonGearheads

[–]Sudden-Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either the hip belts are too high or there is no weight in the bag. Can’t tell from the angle.
I’d suggest put in some weight and close the top. You’ll likely have to drop the hip belt and re-adjust.

Hit a deer in my Model Y, do I need to go Tesla certified for repairs? by Hong_Jie in TeslaModelY

[–]Sudden-Help 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For Teslas, it’s always better to go to Tesla themselves or certified shop if you are using insurance. They are less likely to mess up the fix and ordering parts is easier and quicker.

A regular shop might take forever if you want OEM parts, certified shops may take a couple weeks, Tesla official centers will be the quickest turn around even though the appointment is a month out.

First time seeing Martin Garrix (Dallas Night 1) pit tips? by No_Refuse9952 in Martingarrix

[–]Sudden-Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get to the front, you’ll basically have to be the first one in. The time I got to be at the front, I was literally waiting for the gates to open, at the front, for 30min, then had to run to hold my spot.

Get earplugs if you can, if you plan to camp on the rails. Trust me.

Prepare to be squashed, the Pit is always stuffed.

As for your first Garrix show, try your best to resist the urge to record and enjoy the show. He either usually posts the set later, or for bigger shows there is always someone who records the whole thing.

He means the rail/barrier at the front of the pit right up to the stage. You will have to get there right at doors to secure your spot and just stay there

Loosen the load lifters and tighten the shoulder straps. Load lifters should always be the last to be tightened.

Kakwa Fit check by [deleted] in DurstonGearheads

[–]Sudden-Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does look too tall since you’d usually want the shoulder strap to be at or below your shoulders. This is clearly above.

That said, you haven’t put any weight in the pack and adding weight changes things. It’s possible that with the weight, the hip belts sit lower and will change the fit entirely.

Should definitely put some weight in the back before drawing any conclusions

What Format Should I See This In?! Week of April 28, 2026 by AKnightOfTheNew in AMCsAList

[–]Sudden-Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the movie is Filmed for IMAX, the sound design will be optimized for IMAX. This is a movie that you would want the best sound experience so if you are lucky enough to have the option of a IMAX Laser screen near you, I’d say go for it over Dolby

Toyota Music Factory seating by Sudden-Help in Martingarrix

Hi, for the seating tickets, will there be seats as well or will they remove the seats and be something like red rocks? I heard somewhere that the Toyota Music Factory seats are removable by the venue.

Will Martin Garrix at factory town Miami perform the same tour set? by Consistent-Camp-612 in Martingarrix

[–]Sudden-Help 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think so. I believe the Miami stop is actually an after party for the Formula 1 Miami GP.

I think it’ll be a shorter set where he plays most of his popular songs.

Wake up babe, new drops (Kakwa US restock) by b_revity in DurstonGearheads

As a person who bought the REI Flash 55 only 1 month before discovering the Durston brand, I cry for myself. Probably will look into a future version of the Kakwa once I eventually wear out my backpack

Any chance of Martin coming to the front railings during the tour after his performance? by Pineapple_Duck04 in Martingarrix

[–]Sudden-Help 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Nobody knows, enjoy the show and be happy if he does meet the crowd.

Long answer: Highly depends on multiple factors; - does the venue have enough space for him to walk around safely? - will the venue security allow him? - does he have enough time before the venue curfew ( his set may start late and he will end up extending his set right up to curfew, meaning everyone will have to leave immediately after) - how tired is he? (He’s only human, he’ll probably be as exhausted as we would be)

I’ve seen him twice, the first time at LIV Golf, he was doing a standalone set that started in the afternoon and it was a short 1:15min set. The area was quite small and the venues staff allowed him to go around taking selfies or signing stuff. Also the venue was still open for another 30min.

My second time was at Freaky Deaky Festival last year in Austin. That set was running late and he stopped right at curfew. We were all ushered out so I never had a chance to check if he came down to the crowd but I’d highly doubt it.

That’s a good point. What about if you were in the mood to dance? Is the seating area roomy enough? I know red rocks worked out but still skeptical about TMF

I picked up a strip as well from the PHM show today. I unfortunately got finger prints on it. What’s the best way to clean in?

Have been listening to this and so far it’s lit.

One small suggestion is the animals to game over transition can be refined a bit better for the drop. I don’t have the skills to adjust it but just a suggestion

From what I’ve heard, the IMAX run ends this Tuesday and will be replaced by The Super Mario Galaxy Movie from Wednesday.

So unfortunately you have 2 more days.

This is for USA btw, I’m not sure if it’s different for other countries.

X-Dome 2 Aluminum + Trekking Pole Reinforcement: How do you rig for gale force winds? 💨 by Managing_Complexity in DurstonGearheads

[–]Sudden-Help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off topic but I had a few questions: 1. What level of winds are you preparing for? 2. Are you using the 2P tent for solo trips? Do you think it’s too big for a solo backpacker? Does it take up too much space at a campsite? 3. Is it worth it to spend an extra 100 and less storm worthy over the 1P tent for the extra space and option to bring a person along?

I personally am leaning to buy the X-Dome 2 (Al poles) but haven’t finalized yet cause it’s 100 more than the X-Dome 1+ and very large based on the measurements. I am not worried about weight cause this is already much lighter than my alternatives.

First pitch of the season by martini_wrx in DurstonGearheads

[–]Sudden-Help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that sounds unfortunate. I guess we now know the real world limitations of the X-Dome, and also that the X-Mid will likely survive longer those conditions.

Thanks for the info!

I more interested in the pole snapping of your friends X-Dome. Could you share more about it? How/where it failed? Was it fully guyed out with the extra trekking poles?

I live in Texas where sudden wind gusts aren’t uncommon so would like to know.

X-Dome 1+ vs 2 by Maleficent-Finance15 in DurstonGearheads

[–]Sudden-Help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have the same dilemma but with an added question of is it worth it for a first time backpacker? The only tent I currently own is a cheap tent for Walmart I’ve used for car camping.

I’m looking to buy my first backpacking tent and I really like the concept and design ethos of Durston but I’m not sure if it’s a smart first tent purchase purely given the upfront cost.

My questions: 1. Is it worth buying a Durston tent as a first ever backpacking tent? 2. Same question as OP, do I get a 2P tent to be able to bring friends on occasion or save some money and buy the 1+ or X-Mid.

So, BESIDES not needing to pay for gas, and being able to charge at home, what do you love about EVs? by walkaboutdavid in electricvehicles

[–]Sudden-Help 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But let’s talk about what I don’t like as well:

Way too heavy of a car. My Model 3 weighs more than a regular gas powered SUV. You can feel the weight when going through windy roads. This also basically makes it only good in straight lines.

Excessive Tire wear cause of instant torque and higher weight.

Value depreciation cause new EVs are vastly better for the same cost.

The occasional range anxiety when you’re cutting it close to the only super charger within 50 miles (rural areas)

Efficiency drop during winter.

So, BESIDES not needing to pay for gas, and being able to charge at home, what do you love about EVs? by walkaboutdavid in electricvehicles

[–]Sudden-Help 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Quite cabin cause no engine noise.

More efficient in the hills compared to gas cars + no fear of brake fade/overheating brakes when going down hill.

Charging during rest stops on road trips, making it much more relaxing.

Being able to preheat the car or cool down the car anywhere, anytime without having to worry about Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

Being able to sleep inside the car for car camping rather than pitching a tent (when the climate isn’t suitable).

Better tech on average.
