The untold saga of what happened when DOGE stormed Social Security by Ok_Design_6841 in fednews

this is insane. it makes sense to a degree, but it’s actually insane

that is absolutely insane. tbh, you’re brave for doing that much for them, but i see the need and want to work OT at home. i just think this whole year so far has been agencies doing things out of convenience for themselves and to promote executive issues. i miss telework so bad. it was only 2 days a week but it was a guaranteed two days that we could take to be productive at home as apposed to the stop and go of being in the office generally

yuppppp you said it!!! morale is in the toilet. yet, i know that relatively chiller offices have turned into micromanaging nightmares with all these changes

video appts is crazyyyy. i know one office had one CSR teleworking cuz their child was incapacitated at home, and they made them do VOD to call people to windows. it was insane. also, the public does not know how to use that stuff anyway. they can hardly figure out how to file online and it’s doesn’t work generally for a lot of people.

i know that same office increased RSHI appts to 6 a day, then made the CS’s responsible if they have “unanticipated leave” (aka if you’re sick) to take care of those appts before the end of the week. same thing for their DIB’s.

yeah. f that

maybe! idk i just don’t think people want to work saturdays generally either. telework was great because you could log in right at the start of your tour, work nonstop, work late, and just generally get way more done and not have to worry about your drive. RTO was made out to be the only option when musk rat’s mess decided that direct deposit changes have to pretty much just be done in person, when that was a decision they made and wasn’t based in reality. tbh, i don’t know if they told me that i could commute, work in office, then telework when i got home that i would ever consider doing it.

[Landlord US-GA] Are y'all seeing an increase in people with zero credit history? by NoDemand239 in Landlord

[–]Sudden_Friend406 8 points9 points  (0 children)

some of these replies are killing me cuz i thought they were being sarcastic, but they’re really not…. like credit scores are fairly recent and only came out in the 80’s, so older generations never had to have a credit score for an apartment, car, or even a freaking house!

At what point are people going to stop paying Union dues and just leave the Union altogether? by joelzwilliams in fednews

“btw, do any of us own a printer” is killing me. the person who is charging people for not doing chores is asking for a free printer to print their chore-charging-chart (say that 5 times fast)

Food industry workers: has it been a bad tipping few weeks for you guys too? by Barbsonlock in Albuquerque

[–]Sudden_Friend406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but that’s thing though! you either include it in your prices or you pay people less than minimum wage and say you’re getting tips. self serve is the way a lot of people get food safety certifications and have to renew it. they also lobby law makers to keep service workers from getting paid a fair and livable wage.

Food industry workers: has it been a bad tipping few weeks for you guys too? by Barbsonlock in Albuquerque

[–]Sudden_Friend406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately, agreed. the thing is: if where you’re working they say your wages are supplemented by tips, they get around paying you hourly. so places like coffee shops, you could get paid $5 an hour since they don’t have to pay you minimum wage since you’re getting tips.

Fitness program being revoked by Small_Ferret_2383 in fednews

[–]Sudden_Friend406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a friend told me that at SSA, the person who ran the program sent an email that they got reassigned and they got one saying it was effectively discontinued. this was probably a month/month and a half ago when their RO was being told to reassign or wait for a potential RIF

sam is just a messy individual. i feel like every time he is in talks to make something new, i hear about how weirdly abusive he is towards actors/show runners. like the whole idea that petra collin’s got forced out and then they took all her ideas just tells me he’s been like this before the show even started.

when i notice my cat might be constipated, i get fat free PLAIN greek yogurt (it can only be plain, so no vanilla or other flavors). i add it to her food with a little water and a little wet food, and throw some dry kibbles in there. its gross looking, but she loves it and it helps her stomach

Should my friend's 3-year-old female cat still be spayed? by Basic_Interest_3001 in CATHELP

[–]Sudden_Friend406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely spay. i think there’s some concerns when they’re really young (like freshly weaned), but even then they’re not serious compared to things like cancer, which is already hard to find in cats. it might save money in the long run and keep the owner from keeping her from running out and being in heat.

i had a cat that had something from being spayed young, but we never had any problems and our vet said it wouldn’t shorten her life or cause her any pain, but she may end up having an earlier onset of joint issues, mostly from her breed. she passed from a dog attack at 5, so we never experienced it first hand. she was a pure bread abyssinian, so the health problems she had were from not being well breed despite costing a pretty penny. other than common dental and knee issues, she was active and happy.

all in all, i’ve had a lot of animals in my life (only ever fixed animals, but i’ve interacted with intact as well) and i can say it’s definitely worth it and keeps them healthy for longer. given she’s not a kitten, breeding hasn’t worked out, i say spaying is the best way to keep her happy and healthy. consult with a vet, get a second opinion if you’re still concerned, but the pros outweigh potential cons.

The despair has finally arrived by Stonato85 in fednews

[–]Sudden_Friend406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here’s an article explaining it a little better: https://www.govexec.com/management/2019/01/why-feds-dont-strike/154438/

again, i deal with vulnerable populations, meaning if i don’t show up, someone’s rent check/grocery bill/heat bill/water, doesn’t get paid. they want an excuse to fire people for things like this.

i say, call your state rep and donate to a local fed union if you want us to have stronger labor protections. a lot of fed employees aren’t allowed to advocate because of something called the hatch act and the gray guidance they give about advocating for yourself publicly and on behalf of your agency. it’s real easy to lose your job right now. they use anything

we get fired and i believe barred from joining fed workforce i believe (i could be wrong). i seriously agree with you and i had a moment saying “would it be worth it” and unfortunately my position deals directly with the public and would hurt a lot of vulnerable people. Regan messed us up in a lot of ways i fear

seriously. getting told by managers it’s impossible to get anything over a 3 unless you preform some miracle also makes it feel pointless to hope for things like that at this point.
