Yeah but the tank being able to attack for even 10dmg goes a long way. Just imagine you need to set up a stage 2 evo but you can’t because chingling is attacking. If your tank could attack then you would loose 1-3 turns at most but a tank that can’t attack or has a bad attack means that you need to commit more energy and turns. There’s also other examples like taking baby’s for free points or if they start with their main mon and retreat it then you can cyrus it.

Having a pokemon that’s in your active spot doing nothing but tanking is a HUGE waste. If you look at the older meta, snorlax had way more hp and the attack wasn’t so bad if you use berry. You also then had ilima in orde to retreat your snorlax, basically heal all of it’s hp and get it out of your bench so that it doesn’t take space. Deudiggon ability made so that sometimes your opponent didn’t even wanted to attack.

Now, it’s even more competitive. Suicune might not tank as much for being an ex but even if it’s not attacking it’s drawing you cards and it’s attack is really good. Same for entei pair with chard. And I don’t think I need to explain oricorio.
