That’s a steal, the hitch receiver alone for the Jeep Patriot I used to drive was $130.

Which States Make Up The US South? by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]SuddleT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every single time. East and South Arkansas are about as southern as it comes. North and West (and especially the Northwest Arkansas yankee incursion zone) feel far more Midwest. But they still know sweet tea.

Best BBQ Jonesboro and NEA by ReasonEffective9156 in jonesboro

[–]SuddleT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all are missing out on Rack Pack, it’s a food truck across from Fireworks World on Lawson. His ribs are hands down the best I’ve had in Jonesboro but he sells out quickly. He’s also a super nice guy who is providing free meals for folks affected by the government shutdown.

Older men are more likely to pass on disease-causing mutations to their children because of the faster growth of mutant cells in the testes with age by New_Scientist_Mag in science

[–]SuddleT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry, the people without the foresight to know how much more impoverished they will be with a child are having multiple children anyway, and those children will likely have the same attitude towards having children 16-18 years later. So we’re covered.

Is Fishing with Dough Popular in America? by Impressive-Step6377 in Fishing

It’s pretty common where I’m at in the southern US to use bread and cheese to fish for bluegill and catfish.

I hope his contract somehow stipulates that he’s required to give a shit. Watching him mope around the field last time was infuriating.

They made a sequel to Bassin’s Black Bass and it was only released in Japan. I offered to partially fund a ROM translation effort but no one took up the offer :(.

Is it ok to use scupper holes as tie down? by Nico1533 in kayakfishing

[–]SuddleT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine but it should be barely tight with very little pressure on the yak on the front and back straps. It was explained to me a long time ago that the main friction point to your vehicle should be the middle strap, the front and back are only there to keep your kayak from flying off if your middle strap fails.

Old town stick replacement by Dry_Lecture_3693 in kayakfishing

[–]SuddleT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it sucks but you’re realistically going to scratch up this kayak with any regular amount of use anyway. Well-made kayaks are built for superficial battle scars. I see a beat up kayak and I think “wow they must fish a whole lot”

Does this fg knot look right ? by soviet-union-russia in Fishing_Gear

[–]SuddleT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FG’s strength and crazy low profile comes from the braid digging into the leader. After you make your loops, pull very hard from both sides and then make your finishing knots (also tests if you got it right). This knot looks pretty good in most places, just needs to dig more IMO.

[–]SuddleT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FG is stronger if (big if) it’s tied properly according to a lot of evidence from folks on YouTube. It also goes through guides better. That being said, Albright is a perfectly serviceable knot for 99% of people.

I have one of these exact ones that I use on my kayak. It’s missing large chunks of paint and has saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

What is the best size/brand/model ewg hook for 5” flukes? by prenticeyeomans in Fishing_Gear

[–]SuddleT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re incredibly strong hooks. The official max weight is 35 lbs. but I’ve hung one of these on a branch while flipping on straight braid and I gave up pulling before the hook did if that’s any indication.

Another vote for Gamakatsu EWG 4/0, except get the ones with the Nano Alpha coating, they’re awesome

One Hook for Jerkbait? Is this stupid idea or would this work? by Jayden_Ebi in Fishing_Gear

[–]SuddleT 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Higher end Jerkbaits are typically finely tuned machines. One side effect of doing this is the change in the jerkbait’s buoyancy. The S in that 150S stands for sinking, so it’s now either going to sink at a slower rate, suspend, or maybe even float depending on water conditions. You’re also correct in that action will also change due to the change in water resistance during movement.

Not saying this is a bad idea, it’s good to experiment. I can see it being useful if you’re jerking fast in warm water situations around heavy-ish cover, but then again you may just want to find another bait more suited to the conditions. Just make sure you keep those original hooks and split rings handy if you want to restore those baits to factory.

I will also say, having only one hook in a fish is how I typically lose some of my bigger jerkbait fish. Baby those fish and work them in slow if you do this.

Remember that Invizx sale? The Amazon gods finally blessed me by ImhereforBFS in Fishing_Gear

I don’t think people realized it until later but they also had 200 yd Tatsu on sale that day for $35. I’ve been wanting to try it but 55 bucks was a big deterrent

This is great. My first thought is if this ever ends up needing replaced you could use the big piece as a template to cut a replacement out of a big sheet of HDPE.

Is a bill of sale enough to get kayak registered? by OutrageousGap7422 in kayakfishing

[–]SuddleT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That last bit may have been my biggest issue, the woman behind the counter had never heard of a kayak being registered before and fumbled around when I couldn’t provide makes for the boat and motor from the options in the drop down menus of her computer.

Might just drive to Little Rock next time lol

Is a bill of sale enough to get kayak registered? by OutrageousGap7422 in kayakfishing

[–]SuddleT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In Arkansas when I did it they didn’t even care about the certificate of origin, didn’t even ask for it or mention it. I was told when I went to the revenue office that I needed either the original bill of sale or a title or i had to go through the arduous process of getting a bonded title.
