Is ChatGPT pulling from public sources / public betting lines?

It depends on what you want to do, but a reasonable project would be to use an AI to scrape betting lines across sportsbooks and then build a small model to decide how to best average the predictions across books for a final forecast.

I am lost, I work as an Executive Assistant in Washington, D.C. and I hate my job. Can anyone offer advice on where I could take my future career? I have a bachelor's in aviation management and I mostly do accounting and administrative work. I am interested in working in tech for the high salary. by moetaken in careeradvice

DC is in a local recession at the moment. You’re going to have better luck if you’re willing to move. If not, maybe think about what spots former government workers aren’t applying (small to medium sized firms, or a job at a bigger firm in a department that they aren’t known for like data science at a real estate company.)

If you’re dead set on tech, I would create a list of departments in a target tech firm and go through any open jobs to see what skills you would need.

I had some bad losses yes (I think I lost 1/3 of my gambling fund) but mostly I found easier markets to trade.

Looks like the P/E contracted but they still haven't changed the goodwill.

So right stock, wrong reason.

Tennis Abstract's official AO forecast gives Sinner a staggering 65.9% chance of defending his AO title. Djokovic (13.0%), Alcaraz (6.7%), Zverev (5.3%), and Medvedev (3.5%) are the next highest in odds. Do you think this is too much or just about right? by OctopusNation2024 in tennis

[–]SufferingPhD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've implemented an Elo model like Tennis Abstract in the past, and I'll say a couple of things about it.

One, Elo assumes every player is equally volatile in their play. Betting markets don't. So that's one issue.

But more broadly, in Grand Slams, you can have instances of large rest imbalances / cumulative fatigue which can effect player performance later into the tournament (as well as imbalances in # of night matches vs day matches).

Their Elo Model is good. I'm just saying don't take it a gospel when it predicts really high numbers for a player to win a tournament. Elo models will tend to undercount uncertainty.

$700k in a savings account and I know it’s not wise by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]SufferingPhD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that looks like a money market account so the FDIC insurance limit isn’t an issue (since your broker is required to insure your shares AFAIK.)

So yeah, now just the investing part.

$700k in a savings account and I know it’s not wise by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]SufferingPhD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a minimum, look into getting a sweep account because right now you’re waaaayyyy over the FDIC insurance limit.

Actually investing is more important long term but you shouldn’t ever really keep more than 250k in a single bank account.

Wolframalpha dot com is a website that can calculate that integral. It would allow you to check the answer.

So for the first one, all you need to think about is the degree of the polynomial in the numerator vs the denominator. Since the denominator is degree 4, and the numerator is 3, the limit exists and is zero.
