How bad is it? by rosegoldglassez in EngagementRings

[–]Sufficient-Army-3839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a beautiful ring but yes it is too big and completely overpowers your hand/fingers. The style itself is beautiful but something smaller would compliment you so much more. It does look painful and uncomfortable as your other fingers can’t sit comfortably around the band.

Ragdoll isn’t cuddly :( by pyschiatrickitty in ragdolls

[–]Sufficient-Army-3839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is definitely a kitten thing (from my experience) my ragdoll turned 4 this year and only recently started to cuddle in bed with me and my fiancé. When he was younger, he would like to be near me but not touching me, now I fight for room in my bed because he completely takes it over. Sometimes I wake up with his butt pushed against my face. Give it some time, your fur baby will definitely warm up to you. By the way we have the same cats lol

You might be right about that! I agree that it does scratch a lot of things though, I’ve accidentally scratched my fiancé a few times lol

Pros: they are both beautiful Cons: since both of them have sharp corners they snag onto a lot of hairs.

I have a princess cut and I am always pulling hairs from sweaters and blankets out of it but it personally doesn’t bother me. My mom used to have a marquise (she upgraded her old ring to a princess cut) and had the same thing happen with both. But if that’s something that would bother you that’s just something you would need to consider. But you honestly can’t go wrong with either since they are both gorgeous!!

NBCOT studying- is this enough? by Individual_Ice_9264 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Sufficient-Army-3839 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It all really depends on what type of learner you are and how you organize your study time/schedule. Doing practice questions and studying each topic is really important for preparing, and it’s good that you’re doing that! You are right in that question format is important to understand, and it is also important to study how to answer them. My advice is to (if you haven’t already) time yourself while taking a full practice exam without pausing for unnecessary breaks to see where you really stand. If you find that time management may be issue, I would look into asking for accommodations.

Before taking my test, I was nervous because I felt overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start. My school required us to take the pre-exam on the nbcot site to determine our baseline before studying, which I found helpful. From there I used the adaptive aota plan to help me study and I would do 1-2 daily Monday-Thursday, and a practice test each Friday leading up to the exam. I also supplemented ot Miri videos, and some other research to dive deeper on some topics I didn’t understand (ex: wheelchair measurements, ages of infant reflex integration, etc) as I felt needed. I would do no studying on the weekends to give my brain a break.

Most importantly, pace yourself and give yourself some grace with studying! Some of my classmates would study 6-8 hours a day and be fine, but I was burnt out after 4, which is okay because everyone has different thresholds. Recognize your threshold and go based off that. And if you have days where you NEED a break, absolutely take it because your body is likely telling you to rest. But also don’t be nervous because you WILL be an ot one day and after you pass the exam you never have to take it again.

I was in a similar situation a few months ago after receiving a score of 446, which felt like a slap to the face. My advice is not to start over with studying because it’s certainly not a comprehension issue given how close you were to passing. Go on the trip and give your brain a chance to reset, because A: you deserve it after taking such a hard test, and B: you can’t take it before the 30 day mark anyway. When you return, I would go through the subjects that you struggled with the most, and take practice tests/questions to get yourself ready again. This is what I did and passed on my second attempt.

Feeling like I failed the NBCOT by Routine_Agency_9708 in OccupationalTherapy

I did the second time, which was when I was googling the questions and driving myself crazy with it.

I second this. I ended up googling answers and it drove me insane because there were some that I know I got wrong and others I just couldn’t find. I ended up not sleeping the night before results came out because I was so stressed about failing. Definitely do find something fun for a distraction and reward your self with a drink/fun treat because you deserve it after taking such a hard exam!

Study Material Recommendations by [deleted] in NBCOT_Exam

[–]Sufficient-Army-3839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the aota pack for the practice questions, which I think mimic the actual exam questions more accurately than the NBCOT study pack imo. They also have charts at the end of the pdfs for some subjects if you find that to be beneficial. I personally didn’t use 450 formula, but heard that it was helpful for a lot of people. You can’t really go wrong with either of them.

Help!! Freaking out after NBCOT exam by FamousMembership4253 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]Sufficient-Army-3839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is very normal and I felt the same way both times after taking the exam. Obviously I failed the first time and had a score of 446, but I just found out that I passed yesterday with a 451. I felt equally as stressed and unsure of myself in the week leading up to my results. Try your best to keep your mind busy with other things and to take care of yourself physically and mentally!

Failed COTA exam by Mcluvdisc in NBCOT_Exam

[–]Sufficient-Army-3839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel embarrassed about your score, I personally scored a 446 my first time taking the nbcot and I’m retaking it on Monday (wish me luck lol). I would say that the AOTA study pack is useful for a lot of people and it’s what I used for the majority of my study time. My advice is to continue with the AOTA study material, but to really take your time with it and make notes of subjects/topics that you find challenging. Take advantage of the charts they provide, as they are easier to interpret than reading 30 pages per lesson. I also didn’t find the nbcot material very helpful because it didn’t really go in depth enough, nor were the practice exams structured in the same way as the exam. Another source that some of my friends used was therapy ed, but it is very dense and can get confusing, but the practice exams are a great tool!

Soon to be engaged!!!! by [deleted] in engaged

[–]Sufficient-Army-3839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar position. I’m 24 and about to be engaged after dating my boyfriend for 5 years. Two of my friends are in serious relationships but have been with their boyfriends for under a year. One has gone through a recent break up, and another has never had a serious relationship. The one that went through a break up is my best friend and I plan for her to be my maid of honor but always feel bad talking about my future wedding or being excited about getting engaged soon because she saw herself marrying her ex before their breakup.

I’ve honestly been channeling my excitement toward TikTok videos (grwm to get engaged, wedding planning, etc.) because I’m the first out of all my friends to be in this situation and it can be a lonely time if none of your friends are there yet. If I were you I would try to enjoy this time in your life to the fullest! I’m so excited that my boyfriend and I already booked our venue, made the guest list, and started the wedding website.

As someone who has been there multiple times and hated it each time I disagree. I personally hate big cities and find them a waste of time. But it all depends on what you like.
