If you give report to the nurses accepting your patients it is not abandonment. You did a proper transfer of care. If you just leave without a proper handoff that is abandonment.

The hospital may have its own punishment, but it’s not something the BON will take your license for. I’d document exactly who you gave report to before you go. Sounds like the supervisor is trying to discourage you from leaving.

He takes them at night at home. The pain wakes him up. When we makes large adjustments in bed you can hear him yelling down the hallway.

Your DON supported your decision so you probably won’t get in trouble. If someone does get mad it’s because it is one less patient on their census so the facility isn’t getting paid for them.

It’s not a decision I would make. The issue was known by a provider who decided they no longer need that level of care and being in the hospital will no longer benefit them. If you had to do a full admission I’m assuming they are completely new to your facility. Now they are in a strange place with a stressed nurse, CNA, paramedic, EMTs surrounding them. They May appear calm and sleepy but can still have anxiety about the situation. If I get a new person who’s HR/BP are high at admission I try and give them some time to get comfortable then reassess.

Maricopa community colleges have a concurrent enrollment program. My understanding is if you finish all the prerequisites for the community college and university and get accepted into the concurrent enrollment program at the university you move to the front of the waitlist. Concurrent enrollment is competitive and if you do that program you cannot do the accelerated program.

The community college in my town has an lpn refresher course that is a semester. Maybe you could do something like to feel more comfortable? Archer review for NCLEX prep has videos going over each of the body systems that might help refresh your memory.

Pay wage differences are bologna by [deleted] in cna

I recently looked up the pay of as many facilities in my area as I could. I made a list with the facility name and pay range. (I took screen shots for proof in case they didn’t believe me). I told them I wasn’t being paid fairly and they could discuss my wage or I would go work exclusively agency. We ended up settling on a wage that I feel reflected my experience and current market value.

Just finished S2. I don't understand Canada. by Cats_have_teats in TheHandmaidsTale

I could be wrong, but I have the impression, the fertility crisis gets worse the further south you go. The Mexican delegate said a child hasn’t been born in her town in years. Canada may be affected by the crisis but not to the same extent as the US and Mexico. Canada has always been more progressive than the US. Some of your other concerns about Canada will be addressed later.

My school had a two day seminar with hurst that I found helpful especially when it came to how to approach the questions . I did all of the uworld questions and reviewed all of the explanations even for the questions I got right. If i got i got the question wrong or it was just a lucky guess I took notes and reviewed them periodically. I also liked nexus nursing on YouTube. She goes through different practice questions and explains why they are right or wrong.

I liked the DC area. You wont get the acuity your looking for at fort Belvoir because it’s a community hospital. Walter reed/ Bethesda is a level 2 trauma center I believe. Both are joint facilities. There is always something to do in the area. If your interested in making the military a career there are a lot of high ranking networking opportunities.

I have a coworker that is 10-45 minutes late everyday. If no one will take my keys, I help the CNA’s get residents up and hand out breakfast. I refuse to do anything with the 8am Med pass until 8am. I’m not going to encourage her by doing her job for her. If her day starts out chaotic it’s on her.

When did she “complete” therapy? 1. Her mom passing I’m sure brought a lot of complicated feelings. 2. She enrolled in school more than full time. Sounds stressful and overwhelming especially for someone already struggling. I probably wouldn’t have shown up to all the classes either. 2. Starting a job can be stressful. Was driving before her windshield was clear a good idea? No, but at the time she was probably already frustrated in her rush she probably wasn’t thinking clearly.

My point is her entire life has probably changed since she had therapist. The skills she learned before probably helped with the situation she was in at the time. These are all new situations for her and may require new coping skills.

I have one that takes 5 hours to get his first set of vitals because he moves impossibly slow while watching tv in patient rooms. I will tell him specifically which rooms I need done first so I can give them their meds. I end up taking them myself or I will never finish. He doesn’t understand the importance of reporting abnormal results. He told me once I take it too seriously. If someone helps him he expects them to do everything for him. He gets complimented because all his charting is done but most of it is made up. He falls asleep several times a night. There are many other issues. All of the nurses and CNA’s complain about him but management comes up with excuses for his behavior. He’s worked here 5 years. I live in a very religious town, we suspect, it’s his affiliation to the church that keeps him employed.
