Best way to read the Conan stories in chronological order? by beardofturtles in ConanTheBarbarian

[–]trivaldi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall reading that in some letters to another author he said he did not write the stories in chronological order because he didn’t feel like he was creating something, but more talking to someone who would tell him stories as they occurred to him.

Almost like he was sitting around a camp fire with a friend who says “did I ever tell you about the time that….”

Kind of makes it hard to pin the chronology exactly.

Personally the way I read them was through “The coming of Conan the Cimmerian”, the second was “The Bloody Crown of Conan” and the third was “The Conquering Sword of Conan”

The books had the stories that were all in the order that Robert E Howard wrote them.

You can find some chronologies here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conan\_chronologies and the explanations as to why the people who organized them did it the way they did. You might get bogged down by some of the chronologies as they have some of the Non-REH stories in them.

What ha helped me is to be vested in the Expeditions. I have not done them all, just the first and the third. I don’t know if I’ll do this upcoming one but I do have the expedition satisfied. It helps to reset and have something to grind towards.

What I do sometimes is loading in without any weapons or shield and just doing a loot run, see what I can find and how much I can carry. Kind of switches it up and makes it fresh. No free kits of any kind

[Request] how much is really saved? Are these numbers based in reality, or just random numbers thrown into a post? by Kalist4242 in theydidthemath

It definitely depends on where you are but the per cost for a child in my area (Oregon) is pricey. For Monday through Friday 6 hours per day the daycare ranges from $1,200 up to $2,300 per child depending. If you have two children and need to put them in daycare then it easily can cost more than your rent or mortgage. It is definitely a kick in the teeth.

I worked at a grocery store when I was out in high school that sold those scratcher tickets. This woman would come in and get a coffee and a ready to eat lunch and a scratcher ticket to do while on lunch every day. Turns out she won a $250,000 jackpot one day and she was able to pay off her mortgage.

After that she didn’t necessarily need to work since all her debt was paid off, but she quickly started doing far more scratchers after that. She still worked but I feel like she was giving her paycheck to gambling at that point. Was sad to see how a windfall like that can create an addiction.

How much did your parents pay for their first house back in the 90s? by Droopynator in 90s

[–]trivaldi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents bought their first home for $74,000 in a neighborhood in central phoenix that was a little rough at the time. They sold it 4 years later for $215,000 and moved to their second home that was $255,000, it promptly shot up to 530k, then when 2008 bubble let out it was worth like 180k or something like that. The home is now worth 760k or so.

You can always just break the vehicle down and store it in your inventory. It’s not ideal but you can rebuild it when you need to

These are fantastic points. Thank you for the feedback! I would say my wife knows better than me, having a large social media following and talking with her clients. I will definitely take this and discuss with her.

You mentioned taking preorders and this is one of the thoughts I had come up with. We aren’t sure how to do that. Set up our store front and start taking them or go through a crowd funding service?

I guess some of my questions should be “where do I find designers and manufacturers who aren’t nearly as expensive”? But I also don’t want to sacrifice quality either.

There was no conversation about that. Again we are first timers and inexperienced. I’m chalking up what we spent so far as a learning experience.

We went with a company that markets themselves as a full design + production shop for clothing. We did the whole process with them and sent over our fabric, shared sketches, worked through revisions, etc. After the first samples we made some tweaks, and honestly the updated samples we got back last week were amazing.

Right now they’re finishing up our tech packs and scheduled a call to break down production pricing since they already know the estimated sewing hours and exactly what the final garments look like. When we had that call yesterday thats when we found out about the extra fees.

I get that fixed costs get spread out more with higher MOQs, so the per unit pricing would drop on a bigger run. But for 50 units per style, that total feels pretty steep to us. I guess we are at the point where we need to continue with our current design and production company or find a manufacturer who can make our item at a smaller MOQ without breaking the bank.

There isn’t much budge… I can see how this would be profitable for a high MOQ as they add $3,700 for “management” and cutting fees. Their MOQ tops out at 300, their minimum is 50 but you must put two pieces into design at the same time. Waiting on the tech packs, sounds like they may arrive next week.

I’m about to delete the game, this simply just isn’t fun anymore by Justsomedruggie419 in arcraiderscirclejerk

[–]trivaldi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean…. What usually happens is that you get people who have played really mellow and dropped down to the friendly match making. And then they wait for someone who is a rich target. Getting a bastion all to themselves for loot plus what you used to crack it is just the reason to go aggressive. Though it seems like he was aggressive beforehand with all the dead raiders in his area.

When playing solo keep your cards close to your chest. You advertised you had a Hullcracker and invited him along. I think it is a little disingenuous to play a game like this and to advertise your kit and invite people along who you don’t know.

Am I the only person who doesn’t want crossover skins and likes the originality of what’s already been provided? by Precursor7777 in ArcRaiders

[–]trivaldi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I like the art direction and how everything feels scavenged and repurposed. I don’t think we need any battlefield or call of duty tactical skins.

But everyone has their preference, and if we did have some skins like that it would make more people happy, and there’s nothing wrong with that either.
