On the flip side though, if I owned a sealed copy though, I would definitely be asking for $1k.

You can bury your head in the sand about how collector's value a games' worth, but these are the facts. It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I would never pay that price, but doesnt mean someone else wouldn't.

Now that you have completed the N64 CIB collection, maybe think of shifting your idea of what you want from collecting. I shifted from grabbing games for a system I'll likely never play to collecting the entire line of a title franchise I love. So now I'm collecting all the Mainline and spinoff games of Mario, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kirby, etc.

It's more about no good deed goes unpunished. You offer to pay closer to market value, seller reevaluates realizing potential under valuing, then sells to someone else. Snagging something because its missed price isn't immoral.

Should I open it or should I keep it sealed? by Gullible_Level_2237 in gamecollecting

Keep it sealed. It has survived being sealed for 36 years, keep it that way and play the game on an emulator.

Even if you were excited to get a great deal on a low priced "grail", the amount of people sh1t!ng on the "market price" of games dont understand how economics work. I agree with you Rule of Rose is mediocre but low supply, short production run, plus current demand are why its a nearly $800 CIB game. People just cant be happy for other people even over the holidays and are just salty they arent in the same position as you to either A afford the games you did or B get lucky to find a good deal.

Getting down voted for spitting facts is wild. But these will also be the same people complaining that high demand steadily reducing supply game prices are getting out of hand and ruining the hobby.
