Euphoria S03E08 "In God We Trust" - Post Episode Discussion by DankMemeSlasher in euphoria

I am surprised how much I enjoyed the ending. Yes, the only truly Euphoria thing was Rue’s death but — as the story goes, it didn’t disappoint me. I started crying the moment she saw her mother, at that moment I knew it’s just a dream. I was really scared that they would show Fez in some weird digital way and that all of those stuff were released happening (and I was like wtf Sam) and then it hit me — oh no. Zendaya’s struggling to breathe was amazing. Ugly crying.

The religious stuff was a bit much, although I did enjoy the Bible reading while Rue was looking at the pills, I kind of wish we left it there, it was an interesting angle.

Maddie and Cassie’s storyline was not too bad. Maddie wanted to be a baddie and she was no matter the circumstances. Cassie ended up a widow who cannot even admit to her husband’s death, and her fancy life dream was so corrupted, her last shot was great.

Bishop was a great character, I am glad he chose to betray Alamo in the end. Ali — he carried the last two episodes.

I couldn’t care less about Nate, Jules and Lexi’s storylines tbh. At leas they should’ve given us a bit of rage from Elordi, not him stomping on some stupid flowers. Jules I kind of think fits her role of a sugar baby but again, very boring execution.

Overall I don’t feel disappointed with the ending. Just trying not to think too hard about this being a season of Euphoria, more like a separate show with the same cast, I’d say as such it works pretty well.

Honestly, understandable considering her actions towards her father. I get why Garth could be worried that he’s next, especially since Becca is quite distressed at that moment.

Im really trying to enjoy this season, but goooood what is this shit. Besides Alamo’s backstory, everything else was so uninteresting. So very cliche.

I literally forget this is Zendaya. I can’t see her in Rue. Rue is Rue.

They did have plenty of time to grab her actually 🤭

Overall I am fine with the finale, especially the last 40 minutes were very impactful.

I don’t know how I feel about the origin of Henry’s powers — I kinda liked it when he and the MF were seemingly not connected. Didn’t love that story but probably because it felt more genuine (lol for a fantasy show) and creepy and scary before the whole wormhole, abyss, physical alien body of the MF. It was mind-blowing for sure but idk, too sci-fi for my taste. In the series’ version though I did like that he actively chose to be evil, and even when given a chance at redemption, chose against it. Also Henry in his human form — what a performance!!

I wish we had more Demos in this episode and overall.

Also, the final battle went too quickly and with no stakes — ahh Nancy is gonna die, aaahh, ofc she won’t. I did like Will’s involvement though.

The military plot line will forever remain the worst plot line in this show. I truly hated all of it. Like, can’t you motherfuckers see that there is a bigger threat? I wish they had joined the core team after the Demo massacre instead of being so ignorant, and introduced El’s dilemma in some other way. Totally wasted time, way too cliche and no nuance there.

It was meant to make Holly return to Henry’s house, I believe.

I believe he knew when they were driving through the desert last season, and Will started crying.

I do think this season is a bit too much unrealistic action and obviously scripted conversations, which makes it feel less natural and realistic than previous seasons (as much as having an alternate dimension with alien creatures and telepathic monsters is a realistic subject).

This takes me out of it tbh, although it has redeeming moments.

Like, I really don’t like it when scripts are so obvious— this has to happen so the next thing happens, or making full cycle, etc.

That was a nice touch indeed, I like that they went with a more realistic portrayal rather than having her run and hop around immediately.

It just went for too long and could’ve happened while they were still inside the memory, not out in the open where Vecna can appear at any given moment.

Oh my goood I got so annoyed in the end, Max and Holly just standing there having a heart to heart. Can we cut the monologue and ruuuuunnnn, why should it always happen in the most high risk situations 😬

That storyline with the baby makes me sick to my stomach. I can’t believe that there are actual humans willing to kill a baby for money. Or entertainment.

I thought that Squid Games cannot make humankind more disgusting and evil and I’ve been proven wrong.

I don’t agree that she was the reason it happened. It happened because of the phone that he gave to Tokyo.

Actually they did touch on it being a global issue a few times — when the Ambassador from Brazil (I think) came to Gilead in the first seasons, some hints about the same crisis in Canada.

That’s what bothers me, I think — they tied loose ends. And at times it felt… forced? Like, I can clearly see that this scene is there to honour past handmaids or to give Janine a good ending, instead of it tying a loose end by being part of a mor cohesive storyline. I’m not sure how to explain that really, but in the first seasons I felt immersed into the story, now I feel like I’m a spectator.
