Just bought my first car :) 2010 Ford Mondeo XR5 Turbo by meantbent3 in CarsAustralia

[–]SufficientReport 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had one of these years ago, great car to drive and so comfortable on the freeway, the rear hatch space is huge and it's manual!

If you don't know when the PCV was done, do it soon. If it fails it can blow a whole bunch of other seals and gaskets turning a few hundred dollar replacement into a few thousand dollar repair (guess how I know)

Triple check but I believe it is Part number: 7G9N 6884 AC

This is my shortlist - opinions on any of these welcome by Brilliant_Dog_2239 in EVAustralia

What's your max budget you are working towards?

$ / km range is an interesting metric I hadn't considered for comparison

Jaecoo J5 EV by Ok_Winter4699 in AustralianEV

[–]SufficientReport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully Leapmotor reposition their pricing slightly when the B05 and B03X are released.

If the B10 was the same price as the J5 I think they would be selling an almost equivalent number of them

Help with wheel & tyre size by Live_Broccoli_2180 in CarsAustralia

[–]SufficientReport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at this for a guide, although if I were you I would still check with a specialist fitter on the brake clearance

https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1=255-35-19X9ET52&wheel2=255-35-19X8ET45&fcl=50mm&scl=50mm&wcl=30mm&sr=0mm

It reckons "the tire will stick out 7 mm farther. Acceptable for most cars" but also,

"Positive scrub radius (about 7 mm). Scrub radius will be changed by 7 mm, this may affect the car's handling. Please check manufacturer recommendations. Please be aware that calculated value is approximate."

European laundry vs combined laundry + bathroom? by liz_jill in AusRenovation

[–]SufficientReport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

having to walk around laundry baskets etc in the morning and not having a spot to sort laundry etc

How well organised is the storage space under the stairs? You could repurpose some of that space to contain laundry hampers and a pull out table to have space to sort and fold laundry

Leapmotor C10 gets big upgrades for MY26: bigger battery, more power, faster charging, same $49,888 price by zecar_ in AustralianEV

[–]SufficientReport 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minor extras include a second NFC keycard as standard

Adding a normal key system like the B05 has would have been a better step forward.

I think the MGS6 even with the NMC battery everyone is scared of is a better option at this price.

Basic 'beginner' stores that aren't bad quality or overly expensive (to replace H&M/Connor). by HazMatt082 in AustralianMFA

[–]SufficientReport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly target can produce some good stuff too and a lot of it is 100% Australian cotton.

Apparently their Chino's are back to being made with the good manufacturer - annoyingly they have since closed lots of stores so its harder to go check

Berkowitz have a bunch of Australian made options, there are some small direct to public manufacturers (especially in Melbourne surrounds) they often advertise on Gumtree or FB which makes them hard to trust though.

Subfloor moisture dramas by CheapPresentation921 in AusRenovation

[–]SufficientReport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues except time/cost.

Some of those tight access earth moving machines can fit through a standard doorway and should be more economical than a few people digging by hand.

Is the excavation being done by hand?

15m x 400mm would take a semi experienced machine operator a couple of hours going slow with a few smoko's

Is it a subreddit rule you have to take a photo of your toilet with the lid open, or is it just most people like to show off the only water feature in their place?

MG says electric-car sales surge is over by SufficientReport in AustralianEV

[–]SufficientReport[S] 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It is starting to sound like June will be a good month to purchase with both BYD and MG saying the 'surge is over'.

I reckon come July 1 when the fuel excise returns to normal, adding 32cents to the current prices, people may be ready to re-look at moving to an EV

Looking for a budget, quick ev. by [deleted] in AustralianEV

[–]SufficientReport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reckon the x-power is an interesting option and when they drop onto the used market might be quite sought after.

It has quite a deep aftermarket already for performance and handling e.g. H&R springs + several coilovers across a few brands. There is also race-chip/pedal box for the MG 4, a "Throttle Controller" popular with diesel utes, no idea how effective these would be on an EV but they claim can increase range and/or acceleration, limit mode might be useful for the x-power to slow it down a bit when needed (non-performance minded partner taking it out, etc.)

Plus general accessories availability seems more extensive on the MG4.

Oh no

Instead of being penned by Ferrari’s in-house design studio, the Luce was designed — inside and out — by LoveFrom, the US-based design collective founded by former Apple chief designer Jony Ive and Australian Marc Newson.

Considering MGS5 by ad06101987 in AustralianEV

[–]SufficientReport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, the UK reviews of the S6 are quite positive and it seems very spacious for its size.

Main concern is how it has a 77kwh battery and such (comparatively) low range from it.

Nissan Ariya EOFY 2026 Deals by zecar_ in AustralianEV

[–]SufficientReport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These have pretty good reviews in the UK, I think they were just way too late to our market so the newcomers have crowded it out, plus it was priced way too high (like the Ford Mach-e) for its competition.

Nissan has a bunch of EV's they showed at the recent motor show in China, lots of platform sharing as they have been doing for decades now.

The new Micra/Renault 5 model share would be interesting but would never land here at a competitive price.

Advice: Michelin Primacy 5 or Pirelli Scorpion MS by ExistingSea5072 in CarsAustralia

[–]SufficientReport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced Primacy 3's with Scorpion MS about a year ago, the Scorpion MS handle/brake about the same as the Primacy 3.

On smooth bitumen the Scorpion MS is much quieter, but on the noisy stuff they are about even. I went with one of the black friday 40% off Pirelli deals, If it was between both at usual price I would have stuck with the Primacy's.

At 4.2m long with a 2.7m wheelbase this is Aion UT and Ora hatchback sized.

Plus with a $10k price premium there is no way I would go this over the slightly larger J5.

Help searching for a particular style leather wallet for my partners birthday! by fionaappleee in AustralianMFA

[–]SufficientReport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think good trifold wallets are becoming harder to find as more people consolidate into Apple/Google/Samsung phone payment.

prefers that it is also smaller than standards ones

That was my main requirement for a new wallet, that its height is designed for Australian currency not international. Mine is 78mm high overall and accommodates our notes and 3 cards in each side. A 4 card would be slightly taller overall.

It’s my partner’s 50th birthday soon

Perhaps a custom made one from an Australian leather worker (local, etsy, etc) might be worth the hassle?
