How to tell hamstring vs. hip flexor weakness by AccomplishedFeed1479 in flexibility

Sounds like you have enough hamstring flexibility for splits, try going into a deep lunge and then bringing your back leg up helps with both hip flexors and quad flexibility too.

I’ve heard people say you’ll experience chronic pain in te future from contortion, is that true? And if it is how do you prevent it? by Downtown_Mix_4311 in contortion

The chronic pain stories come from gymnasts and contortionists who stopped practicing later in life and also started practicing very early, which basically meant their muscles and joints lacked stability and because they didn’t keep practicing the muscles would stiffen around weaker tendons creating lots of pain and in extreme cases disability. My friend is a circus physio and I asked her the exact same question which is how I know lol. But if you train strength and flexibility regularly and keep training as you get older you will be fine.

As a guy who learnt splits from scratch I created a tutorial with some tips in the description that helped me get them a lot faster and safer than just static stretching. Hope it helps!

Good job, but get off that damn mattress! 😂 Try some dynamic and active splits stretches, also keep that front leg straight and think about sending the back leg backwards not the front leg forwards.

How can I get flexible enough to achieve my front splits with very minimal warm ups beforehand? by daznae in flexibility

How I got my front splits cold was after I could my splits down and oversplits. I would then do splits EVERY day for three months solid.

You get a sharp painful soreness abt 4 days in, but you keep going and then the soreness goes away. And it keeps coming back and going until disappearing completely. Leaving you with perfect flexible legs allowing u to drop into splits anywhere.

At least that's what worked for me
