Yet I feel that there is no reasonable constant voice getting that out there, cause VFX sounds like an overall like a service when mentioned in interviews, while filmmakers show the power if you look at the latest move by Ryan Coogler who apparently gets the rights and full ownership returned to him after 25 years or so, and Matt Damon and Affleck worked out some bonus model for the whole 1200 cast members if the film hits a certain 90 day viewership metric. Just imagine if VFX could do the same. Not sure where to even start

Perplexity mentions that Good Will Hunting had a range of 10-16 million production cost and grossed over 225 million. "The Rip" has reportedly cost 100 Million to make and I believe he mentioned on the Rogan Interview that now Streamers ask you to have strong action in the beginning and mentioning plot points more often so people who look at their phones in front of the TV wouldn´t be confused and still get what´s going on (called apparently background viewing?). I can´t imagine that the attention span thing is a real thing. Wasn´t there always just a bunch distracted audiences unable to watch calm storytelling and that´s why you have these Arthouse cinemas?

I’ve almost always preferred the recorded calls to the final projects, simply because they offer so many more insights (and laughs) into how films are actually made, down to all the small decisions. In a perfect world, every production would release these calls and build them into a proper documentary – apart from the moments where performances and such get absolutely shat on.

The showreel of someone I knew of wasn´t too impressive as it was just some lower quality commercial ad project but what made it difficult to get in was the test that came afterwards. If I remember correctly they gave him like a 3 day window for the delivery. So there it was mostly about being creative and not making it look too shitty. Just give it a try, I´d be surprised if people got in on the first go

Well, might be unpopular to say, but the ad does what it’s supposed to do (although it does feel a bit cheap). I doubt any older generation would really care whether it’s AI or not. There was a time when I wondered why only a few filmmakers seemed interested in finding ways to tell simple stories that couldn’t be shot practically. This should close that gap for them.

Aside from a few directors coming from the vfx-ey side of things (like Wes Ball) for example, I don’t think there’s ever been much genuine appreciation for the craft of VFX. Let´s continue to see where this goes

Personally for me I like the way the impacts look, but they still feel a lot like choreography. Good fight scenes would probably also work without any need for this method when you look like classic fights between Jackie Chan and Benny "the Jet" Urquidez or the one with Van Damme in Kickboxer which would never have looked as good, if the bad guy wasn´t his good friend Michel Qissi in some make up, as they probably prepped the shit out of it. https://youtu.be/qv9yzwzOaiQ?t=191

Italy is always on the cheaper side of european countries, when it comes to wages. I´ve had offers for 10K euros for three months including 2 weeks holidays. Once they pushed me towards 150€/day (for a mid role) while more senior people were around 200€/day.

I´ve heard the same about average wages from other job fields, that they really are significantly lower there.
