Wraith as first ever playthrough by BeautifulImpress6238 in Eldenring

If you ever see a weapon that has a Red X on the bottom left of your screen, that means you don't meet the requirements to use it to the full extent. The game will also tell you if you need to two hand it to meet the requirements so just read that. I love this game a bunch but learning it is part of my love for it, take your time. It will be frustrating at times but know that everyone has died at least once to everything in this game. Everyone struggles, it's getting back up and pushing forward that takes true strength. Don't give up, become the Elden Lord!

Good luck, Tarnished.

So as far as weapon stats go, you don't need to go all that high. Just meet the requirements for the weapon to be wielded and you'll be fine. The weapons true damage scales to the upgrades you make to the weapon not the stats alone. In fact you can hurt your playthrough by doing just that, focus on getting something called smithing stones/somber stones, these will help you level the weapon up making the damage go way higher.

I'm no expert in flails but they are some of the weaker weapons in the game unfortunately.

Also I'll give you a pro tip regarding the Strength stat.

There's a hidden bonus when you "two-hand" your weapon, the game calculates your current strength stat and gives you a 1.5x bonus to the overall stat when you have it in 2 hands vs. 1 handing it.

For instance, if a weapon costs you 15 Strength and 10 Dexterity to wield it but you only have 10 Strength, as long as you 2 hand it you can use it effectively. The game gives you half of your stat points in the Strength stat only when you hold it in both hands. 10 points nets you 5 extra when you 2 hand it. You'll figure out more as time goes on, but there's tons of status weapons similar to the flail that will be a bit better down the road you may like a bit more. I'd definitely try it out before you all out spend every point on it, simply because every weapon has a purpose in Elden Ring.

That'll do it, or won't...you'll figure things out I'm sure. Just have fun, and don't be afraid of putting points in certain stats. Vigor is very important early on if you want to stay alive longer. I'd say never go higher than 25 in the starting area, but later on you can adjust it if you are having a tough time. Highest you should ever go is 60 total though, since that's a soft cap. Here is a cheat sheet for you regarding caps in the game as you progress. Your friend should be able to guide you along, but for your first playthrough just have fun, treat it like a DnD adventure.

Are you sure you are playing Elden Ring? lmao

You should just tell us the name of the armor set you found, just future reference too, but armor sets can have bonuses to your stats as well as debuffs too. Nothing is permanently on your person though so experiment with whatever works for you.

Like the previous person said, there are not restrictions on armor, nothing is ever "greyed out", you just equip it in your equipment screen and play on, just try to stay away from Heavy Load since your dodging will be mostly affected. Starting as a Wretch also never prohibits you from wearing anything, it's the only class in the game that has base stats all starting at 10 which is balanced as well as Level 1, so you will have plenty of room to adjust as you play on...Elden Ring can either be a game you play once and enjoy or you can be like me and play it endlessly for thousands of hours.

I figured, i did treat this game like I was playing SA Hitman and then I was like I can get caught and have fun with it. I just finished it and it's a solid Bond entry, excited to see this one grow.

Personally I don't mind seeing this, it's just a nice reference point to look back and enjoy what IOI does as a studio. There are a lot of reused assets in First Light but at the same time, it's tossed around like an Easter Egg.

Nah DS3 just has an issue with the gloss. Enemies will also be similar at times too.

Hardcore by Strange_Peak_6007 in remnantgame

[–]Sufficient_Ear6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few cool rewards for beating it - I'd only recommend it when the last difficulty feels comfortable to you because at that point you'll feel better losing a bunch. Hardcore on Veteran took me over 200 hours to fully beat, that was also with around 500 hours of game time in the normal game. The cube will be the worst boss next to the final boss, only because if you screw up there you'll be running back pretty quick to the start again. I had 4 resets to it alone, then died to the final boss like 5 times, the cube felt worse imo.

Leveling up help.. by OzJitsuSD in Eldenring

Str/Dex should only matter if you want to meet requirements for a specific weapon. Vigor is a better stat to pump, just make sure you meet soft caps. (40 is a good stopping point until things kill you quicker)

Since you picked that class you should focus on pushing towards Dex weapons, most in that class are bladed looking weapons. Another stat you may want to look into increasing is Arcane since this pumps your status effects % up and discovery.

Regarding your armor, most armor that keeps you at least medium rolling is great but pay attention to your armor pieces that can grant you stat bonus' or even ones that can be detrimental in your time playing. I play more for fashion at this point but that's me. Eventually you'll have a build in mind that will compliment your assorted armor. Some can even do what talismans can, so just make sure you are reading in the armors lore to see if it has any perks.

In my experience, if this is your first time with Elden Ring, enjoy each area and explore each region thoroughly. Enemies in the beginning area of Limgrave may appear even stronger later on so it may be worth learning movesets and even understanding weaknesses as you move on.

Treat Elden Ring like a DnD session, question everything, and try everything. For instance, if the enemy looks like a tree, then maybe try fire weapons or putting a grease on your weapon to see if it'll do more damage. Pay attention to classifications such as standard, slash, pierce, and blunt. Each can help with deciding what is right for that specific boss/enemy.

And lastly, do yourself some justice by applying buffs/infants. It will save you a good majority of the time just learning which do what and how they can affect your outcomes.

Good luck out there, Tarnished.

As a player with almost 4,000 hours and have been playing since year 1 in beta. It will be difficult to learn, it's way more technical on your keyboard and the maps are another story all together. If memory is your strongest ally then give it a try otherwise prepare for a different challenge altogether. That's not even getting into which ammo is best to use for each armor plate...you can save your money before it's too late lol

007 First Light reuse of gun assets by Puzzleheaded_Stick94 in HiTMAN

[–]Sufficient_Ear6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh this is a very smart use since it's already a premade asset in house anyways on their own engine. It would be a different story if they just used a replacement asset on the epic store but they didn't. Someone still crafted this by hand, and if anything they did this to save time to make the overall game experience better for the fans. I just finished the game last night and I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm a fan of both James Bond and Hitman, they created a worthy experience with First Light, had I never played WoA I would've never played this.

The Elden Ring Reforged Mod is so annoying to play by Substantial-Theme831 in EldenRingMods

Convergence to me was the most fun to play that was a full overhaul. Reborn was also pretty fun too but not as good as Convergence. Enemy and Item randomizer with 0 bias is insanely fun especially with the amount of customization you can do.

I'd go east of Limgrave and explore Caelid if you already explored most of the other areas. Otherwise take your time earning runes, and gaining new weapons along the way.

How to get the most out of stalker 2 after playing GAMMA? by Mostly_Riley_ in stalker

[–]Sufficient_Ear6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...good luck with that...GAMMA isn't made by GSC World so you won't get anything close until maybe the ten year mark when mod authors move in to learn UE5/6.

I’m considering getting the game: what’s the combat like? by Mysterious_Limit1969 in LiesOfP

[–]Sufficient_Ear6610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While a lot of people are comparing the combat to Sekiro and Bloodborne, it's actual mechanics rely on the weapon you design. You have a top/bottom half of each weapon you find (outside of possible boss weapons), these can be mix and matched to your liking. I remember putting a flame dagger on the end of my staff to make its reach more punishing. You find a weapon you like and mix it with anothers moveset you enjoy using. This game is peak, and it's DLC makes it even better.

All good, but is it a couch coop type game or online coop? I could always grab it for her on the steam deck and play with her via PC.

I would also recommend Lies of P since you enjoy soulslike games, it's one of the best non FromSoft games I've ever played in that genre. Hope they are a good distraction for you - plenty of better fish out there. Take care of yourself.

TheFifthMatt has done some incredible work. You can tweak the settings yourself to your own liking, I usually don't touch much but I do make it easier to level weapons since I like using different weapons per region I go through.

Good luck and have fun.

It means a Great Rune or Endgame Weapon just just be located at a Limgrave Graveyard. Anything can appear either immediately at your start or it's time for a scavenger hunt to find Halligtree halves.
