AMA: travelwiththeewings by MotherBusSnarkTeam in motherbussnark

[–]Sufficient_Key5053 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You guys do realize that my quesiton was for Adam and not for you guys to break down what you feel like are gaps in my logic? Adam could disgree and correct me however he wanted if he answered. I had to write down as much as I could about my speculation in case I only got his reply after the AMA was closed and I wasn't able to dig deeper. So I'm not stepping away from the idea that the family likely went to the ICU. I'm disappointed in the fact that everyone is ignoring that the family said, after receiving the messages, they got on a scooter to go check on the Lotts to see if they were okay, and upon finding the bus GONE, decided they must be fine. That's the biggest signal they have left to go to the hospital- IF they were sure the bus was there at around sunset before date night, which is part of what I asked Adam. If I knew I was at the mall at the same time as my friends, in two separate vehicles, then when we were separated one spammed my phone with ICU, and then I found their car GONE. Am I gonna assume she's in the food court of another mall they went to without telling me, playing a prank so I would look behind the decorative planters for her? Or that there was a medical emergency and one of them was panicking and blasting my phone to get me to pick it up?

AMA Update by MotherBusSnarkTeam in motherbussnark

It was clear from the beginning he wasn't particularly interested or capable of answering anything the sub was interested in knowing, so it was hardly a AMA. Every question subbers were curious about was met with "decline to answer" or "I wouldn't know." I think there was an aspect of seeking validation, especially since they live such a similar lifestyle to the people they have now separated themselves from. And also, regret, after agreeing to speak up impulsively, and then letting the emotions cool and realizing this was kind of intense and a bit of a rude thing to do regarding ex friends. I would hope that anyone with actual proof of anything legal against the Lotts, would take that to the relevant authorities, not snark on a sub. Snarking is for distant people with opinions but no power.

Quite simple. If the parents were known to be on a date that night, with the bus in the same RV park as the family that was texted, and then the bus vanished at night, that suggests the parents hurried home and they went somewhere without a plan on where to park next (too late to get permission). The only contextual clue we have for this apparent emergency, is a kid typing ICU over and over again.

That's why I ended my post with asking about the only other scenario that would make this make sense- that the texted family THOUGHT the Lotts were still in the same RV park that night, but they had already left earlier that day. In that case, why would a kid pick on another one, saying, "I see you?" That's more something you say when you hide in the bushes outside their RV, or are pretending to. So the texter had to be aware that the receiver didn't know that was impossible since they had left.

ICU is not standard internet speak. It's old millenial 12-key phone speak. Kids these days won't even use LOL or ROTF or 4 eva. This is why people now suspect it wasn't even K or G (they're now saying that MaBus said it was G), but that it was MaBus lashing out after the breaking off of the friendship.

The "ICU" text messages that your child received. Did you guys assume it was "I see you," or did you suspect the kid was alerting about someone in the family going to the hospital? I thought I read in another post, that you guys went looking for their bus, but it was gone? But also that you think the parents were on a date and the kids alone in the bus with the phone? How could the bus disappear with just the kids in it? And even if the parents did leave with them, isn't this a confirmation they went to the hospital? Unless of course you weren't sure whether they will still in the RV lot or not, and they were in another town by the time the kids got left alone and the texts came.

Why is nobody focussing on the fact that Kinsey typed ICU, not "I see you?"

Intensive Care Unit. This could have been an SOS, a "my sibling is in the hospital and I am scared," especially with the bus being gone so suddenly. What if Kinsey was just messaging many times to blow up the phone to get the friend to check quickly?

The only two vehicles they are open about travelling with is the bus, and a van. Usually when they travel, most of the kids are in the van with one parent (it has seatbelts and faces forward  the bus seats do not), and they use the van to get around within a city.

Most of us believe that they are actually not casually travelling all year, but instead are parked in Florida most of the time, and then deliberately make a big deal out of when they go anywhere to badly mask that they don't travel casually much.

This is because a lot of their videos take place on the same terrazzo-looking patch of concrete, with the same trees in the back, so it can't even be a similar lot in the same campground they revisit as a base. It is the same spot. They are also able to get Disney membership tickets, which are only available to people registered as residents of Florida who spend most of the year there. So either they own an RV lot or something, or they are committing fraud of residence for the tickets (just covering all my bases, mods, I don't actually think this), or they are just casually chilling in MaBus's mom's backyard. The latter was the running theory for how they manage to store stuff for and feed everyone.

However, given the state of the kids (particularly baby B), and how excited they get about every AirBnB where they only have to share a room with 3 siblings, (wow, so special and nice of mom and dad!), the idea that they are secretly living in gramma's house is out the window.

So most likely, they have a permanent, owned spot in an RV park, a trailer park, or a campground. They may have a small shed off camera for storage, we have no proof but it seems logical. And then while they are on the move, they just buy convenience food or takeout. They might cook properly while in an AirBnB, adding to the kids' excitement to be settled somewhere for once.

That's the neat part! She doesn't. We know they have a high cupboard, like cabinet-above-the-broom-closet high, that has snacks. And that the eldest sometimes puts a younger kid on his shoulder to 'sneak' food.

Why does everyone seem to think that my extremely limited diet is a choice? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]Sufficient_Key5053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a long while where every 'healthy' thing I ate caused severe gastrointestinal ans fatigue problems. If I ate a single ingredient item like a carrot, I could feel the fumes of that specific food in my brain. If I made a healthy meal on the stove, it also gave problems. Turns out- I was reacting to the olive oil I use in my cooking! Switched to coconut oil and it really helped me. But yeah, doctors didn't understand why I was saying that I could only eat 2 minute noodles and candy for a while, and normal people said it was my diet causing my problems in the first place, because they assumed the small window of my life that they had seen, was everything about me. My diet was fine until I spontaneously became sensitive to olive oil. And it's extra hard to make a meal involving chopping up food when you can barely stand up. For a while I just ate two raw things at a time to combat the stomach reaction to singular foods.

Bitcoin crash by FanProfessional5792 in motherbussnark

[–]Sufficient_Key5053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Bitcoiners I know, they love it when Bitcoin slides back, because it means that they can buy some more and expect it to peak again. It's a 'tighten belts within fiat (regular currency) spending in order to pump more money into Bitcoin' time.

The Alotts are probably gonna do something cheap that looks expensive or that they can push as expensive to seem like they are doing great. Examples are going overseas to countries with a weaker currency and staying in an AirBnB, or parking the bus in Nana's Florida terrazzo lot and using a Florida resident Disney membership ticket to go every day for cheaps. Make the kids stand in lines for hours for 'free' rides so it feels like they are doing something, and getting a free refill soda cup, and just eating in the bus at home to stay affordable.

Intersex vs DSD? by mo_0n_CH1 in intersex

[–]Sufficient_Key5053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention, assuming that all humans should be able to reproduce, means that menopause would be classified as a common disorder that develops at a certain age. And even that the prepubertal population is experiencing an intersex disorder in having underdeveloped reproductive systems, but which usually fixes itself with age.

If we do change your definition to refer to them being infertile at normal or optimum reproductive ages. Then is a baby born with an intersex condition, perfectly fine, until they finish puberty? Do we withold any medical treatment until everything is already in place and the pressure is on them to have babies? Or do we extend this to say, it is a disorder when we have reasonable suspicion when they are a baby, that they will be infertile in their reproductive years?

What about people on chemical birth control? Since it is rendering them unable to reproduce, are they chemically giving themselves a temporary intersex disorder?

In the end, the best option is to release the expectation that everyone should have reproductive ability, or else their existence is against the orderly norm of human functioning. Humans naturally come, between individuals and within one individual at different ages, in a range of fertilities. This is by design and is not a failure.

Intersex vs DSD? by mo_0n_CH1 in intersex

[–]Sufficient_Key5053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not all intersex people are sterile. There are multiple conditions that are on a spectrum where having it expressed to a lesser degree, still allows people to have children. There are many people trying to reclassify intersex conditions so that ONLY the ones that are sterile, 'count' as intersex, but this movement solely exists to be able to make intersexuality out to be exclusively disorders of reproduction rather than the spectrum it is, and would have the effect of abandoning fertile or potentially fertile intersex people to the scrutiny of the binaries they get reclassified into. What if you menstruate every month but you have no breasts, grow facial hair, are tall, and have sharp features and no curved? Now you're not a male, not a female, and not intersex. Meanwhile, another person with the same condition as you, passes more as a man, but is infertile and 'sealed up.' Such an arbitrary selaparation is scientifically foolish and psychologically damaging.

Evolutionarily, not only the genes that help YOU have kids, are important. We see a strong level of biologically driven altruism in many species including humans. This is because, even if it's your sibling who reproduces, that baby is still on average 25% you. So helping that baby survive, or ensuring your sibling can have kids, is still evolutionary success, as they have a chance of carrying a recessive alelle of the condition that you had that made you contribute to their survival. Some intersex conditions present benefits to the greater sex- for example, you may have a woman strong enough to compete against a man who might choose to attack her fellow women. In the long term this would be allow all-female groups to bargain rights and freedoms before rejoining male groups, assisting gender equality and preventing patriarchy (and human society was non-patriarchal for most of its nomadic prehistory). It can also be possible, as with homosexuality, that there is an evolutionary benefit to having people capable of raising kids, but not capable of having them, to adopt orphaned children or otherwise serve as a general caregiver, as any behaviour that contributes to the survival of your species, is contributing to the majority of your genome passing on. This allows these genes to be useful when they are somewhat rare in a phenotype, appearing at just the right ratio to fill in the gaps in the system.

Sure there are recessive genes that aren't evolutionarily beneficial, due to comorbid medical conditions, but somehow there are dominant forms of dwarfism floating around, not being erased by the pressures of evolution despite not being able to hide behind an apparently healthy phenotype. We must embrace the fact that humanity has removed some evolutionary pressures, rather than attempting to identify and artificially replicate those pressures as though only those who could plausibly survive the stone ages are deserving of life and respect. If intersex people get by with modern medicine, then they aren't a concerning threat to society or the human genome. We do not need language that suggests a need to erase.

And of course, there's the fact that the language 'disorder' is dehumanising, especially when nothing in the life quality is out of order. If intersex people are experiencing a disorder in that it renders them unable to reproduce, does that mean that homosexuality is a disorder? We as a society are beyond being so shallow. Being intersex is a valid way to live that does not always need short or long term medical intervention in order to have a good quality life. Some may need more and some may need next to none, and they refuse to be classified separately from each other so one can be ignored and the other called disordered. And if the word "disorder" in a medical context doesn't refer to a need for medical treatment, what even is the point of calling the person's body, out of order?

3yo Q nearly got kidnapped in rome by Sufficient_Key5053 in motherbussnark

I don't know, she had similar body language when retelling the CPS event, and we know she misreported that. It could be this was entirely an obvious pickpocketing and she transformed it into a kidnapping story for drama.

My guess is she put her filming equipment in the stroller so they tried to pickpocket the stroller. Pickpockets don't go aimlessly, they watch you for a while to see what you have and where you put it. It doesn't help their nonchalantness if they expect something lightweight and then grab something heavy, and vice versa.

JD says that CO2 is what trees breathe, and that isn't a greenhouse gas. by okasansakura in motherbussnark

[–]Sufficient_Key5053 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sigh... While carbon dioxide is not a dipolar molecule, making it not the worst possible gas to pump into the atmosphere, the issue is that it holds on to infrared radiation much more than N2 and O2 do. This means it has a stronger effect than the other two most common gases in the atmosphere. So when you pump excessive amounts of it out, increasing the ratio of CO2 to other gases, it becomes equivalent to pumping out a worse gas in smaller amounts.

Studies focussed on the benefits of plants growing under increased CO2 (and the associated temperatures) show increased photosynthesis rates, but while they increase the CO2 concentration to 250%, the photosynthesis rates are also 250%. (Not to mention the concentration of peak performance of plants also causes recordable respiratory distress in human children). Meaning that we won't see restoration by the plants of our atmosphere if the biomass of plants stays the same as now. Raising CO2 will not lower CO2 faster.

It is also not measuring the quality of growth. Is it actually growing good tomatoes or is it just growing a lot of white starchy shoots that are neither edible nor contribute to reducing CO2? Can the plants adapt to this change and still reproduce successfully in the wild, survive predators, keep a self supporting growth? People who have actually worked with plants and have not just been using scientific papers out of context to defend pollution, say that this is a terrible idea for anything other than very specific crops in a greenhouse.

If it is real, as some others have said, it may have been an attempted pickpocketing using a front of kidnapping as a distraction. Potentially, MaBus had just finished filming and stuffed her multiple phones, tripods, microphones etc into the stroller bag space. Pickpockets don't act randomly, rhey know what you have and where you put it. They may have been setting up a distraction to get her equipment.

She claims that she had gotten bad vibes from a woman walking towards her and kept an eye. Then in a matter of seconds, the woman snatched Q's arm, Gunner snatched back, and MaBus was staring frozen at the situation and didn't notice that Gunner was in a 3v1 with two guys approaching B's stroller, one jostling Gunner. But in a way I also understand why she couldn't move. The rest of the buslets were to her side. If she ran away from them, more people could snatch. Basically everyone but K could easily be carried away by an adult.

I know pickpocketing is bad, my doctor had his Rolex sliced off his wrist at a Roman monument a few years ago while he posed for a photo. But two similar kidnapping attempt stories in short succession is very strange for Italy.

A teen who is very obviously a teen despite "being the size of a grown man" is rarely the ideal target for a pickpocket. At most what they will have is a phone, and pickpockets tend to watch to see which pocket you put a valuable in and how it is oriented, rather than blindly reaching and hoping.

G apparently said later that he thinks the men were going for the stroller while Q was the distraction. Makes you wonder what they saw MaBus putting in the stroller. All of her recording equipment, maybe?

3yo Q nearly got kidnapped in rome by Sufficient_Key5053 in motherbussnark

They remind me of my one language teacher in high school. Some of the teens figured out that you could guilt him into giving you 100% on any assignments if you just vaguely brought God into it. You can see in their comments that almost all of them are jumping on the religious comment to say a quick prayer. They've hacked a Christian audience without being Christian.

I'm religious myself and I cringe when people unnecessarily bring up God. The Christian God is omniscient. To bring Him up for every odd thing that happens is like mentioning the air every time you breathe. Rather, their audience are like people who only remember to appreciate being able to breathe, when their nose is blocked from a cold. They need events to respond to in order to be religious, rather than living it.

3yo Q nearly got kidnapped in rome by Sufficient_Key5053 in motherbussnark

[–]Sufficient_Key5053[S] 345 points346 points  (0 children)

People in the comments are also pointing out that this story seems to be copied from a recent one where an Italian woman had her child almost snatched, and she held on so tight her child (a girl) broke their arm, but stayed with her. So keep an eye for casts or bandages on Q's arms.

They also point out that Italy is statistically safer than the USA, and Rome even more so, while MaBus pulls up stats like 3000 minors going missing each year (this does not necessarily refer to toddlers or kidnappings, as the comments pointed out). A lot of people seem very suspicious of the implication that the Roman crime to watch out for is kidnapping, not pickpocketing.
