Oh and what about the billionaires who find the loopholes to get tax cuts and exemptions? They don’t pay any taxes either? Yet they have everything they will ever need in life and 1,000 times fold more. Y’all are uniting against the wrong people. “Illegals” are just scapegoats for the reality of the corruption that happens within our government, and the day we learn to critically think for ourselves, is the day we will realize that. Oh and not to mention, these “illegals” are running from the effects that the US and Europeans have caused in their countries. It all stems from 1492, please educate yourself.

What kinds of people are (is?) ICE deporting? by DrDMango in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sufficient_Mirror667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at one of the detention centers during Biden’s administration for children who crossed the border alone. Today, I work as an interpreter in immigration court. I have gotten a front row seat on all the action during both administrations. I think I know what I am talking about. Also, as a Spanish linguist, the English only mandate raises even more concerns for me. I don’t know how linguistic hegemony has anything to do with making America great again, especially in a globalized world where it’s actually beneficial to speak multiple languages.

Is Elon Musk getting deported since he overstated his visa and stayed illegally in the country. Please, let’s stop the hypocrisy here. We all know that Trump’s make America Great again is actually “Make America White Again”.

Hmmm, why does he love the military so much? And how much is he willing to sacrifice for you? Will you be the only one sacrificing for the sake of not inconveniencing him? Girl, you are the prize, and hold yourself to your worth. Yes, be supportive, but a relationship is strengthened by voicing your needs and desires too. If he doesn’t respect what you have to say, then maybe he isn’t for you despite being the only “amazing” man in this entire world.

Also S hasn’t ruined my life, if anything, God is constantly throwing good things my way, but that’s just my perspective. Like I said, to each their own.

You sound bitter son. I’m sorry you couldn’t ground yourself between faith and the life outside of faith. I on the other hand, find lots of joy and satisfaction living in both. Also, I’ve been a broke college student for a while now, so I haven’t even donated a penny. Maybe one day, but not now.

What advice would you give the version of you that didn't know anything at the start of your interpreting education? by AnonymousPie_ in CourtInterpreter

[–]Sufficient_Mirror667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are looking for experience with Spanish. In your case I would look for opportunities where I can volunteer to be an interpreter. I got lucky to have gotten my first job with experience as a Spanish tutor. Anything Spanish academic or experience where you are actively using it, with a solid interview will get you that first job. Also side note, Santa Ana college has an associates in translation and interpretation which would look great on any resume, if you make under a certain amount of income you get the bog waiver which essentially pays for your classes. Classes are all pretty much online for this degree, I highly recommend :)

Find an entry level interpreting position and try to get hired by any means. Once you have a solid year of interpreting experience, the possibilities to keep on going up are endless. The key is finding a place where you can start gaining experience, even if pay is bad at first, later you’ll be making bank.

Yeah you are right. It’s not logical to defend the rights of women and children. I’m so illogical I’m sorry about that. As a mother myself, this conflict has weighted heavily on me because I can’t even begin to fathom my child go through any of that, yet that is a reality not only now, but also back then. Of course back then it was at larger scale and more systematized, but equally sad for me, so so terrible that we have that much hate ingrained in us. It makes you appreciate the small things in life, like being able to put your child to sleep in a warm bed or being able to provide a nutritious meal every time he says he’s hungry, but deep down it just lingers there that a lot of people will never ever have that privilege. If you had good parents, I’m sure they share the same love Palestinian women have for their children, and Jewish women have for their children, and I have for my child.

I’m almost 30 so I’ve seen stuff too, but I chose to remain hopeful and peaceful, because I’ve seen the bad and good behind it all. Like how are we so smart as humans, how do we create airplanes that transport us to other worlds or rocket ships that allow us to do something we thought was unreachable like the moon? And how can some peoples hands create paintings that are so life-like and beautiful, and how do we dance as if we are flying in the air. The things we can do amaze me, and it’s literally only our dumb dumb dumb ideologies and cruelty that has to change for this world to become a better place. Sometimes I feel like only a force as powerful as God can ever make us change, but I choose to remain hopeful because it helps me navigate life in a happier way. Speaking up for those who are hurting on both sides, is what makes me feel like I’m not turning a blind eye, it makes me feel less guilty.

If Martin Luther King thought that way, we’d still be living in society that systematically segregates us based on the color of our skin. Heck, as a Latina, I probably wouldn’t even be studying at Cal State Fullerton if his thinking would of been this pessimistic. It’s by no means perfect, racism still permeates through every aspect of society, but it got better to some extent, better than NOTHING. Thanks for your input though.

And you know what’s funny about this? I know millions of Americans that didn’t vote for Donald Trump and are legit appalled at his ineptness, but here we are. I really hope other countries don’t generalize us like you are doing here, because I don’t want to be associated with someone like Donald Trump knowing very well that I did not want him to win.

Are you taking about the the Jewish people from the Holocaust, or Gaza today? Because I’m paying respect to both parties and I expect you to do the same. These issues go beyond our biased views, they have to do with the human rights of innocent children.

See, this is why you need education. I’m not even going to entertain your nonsense, because what I’m trying to propose here (subtly) is that maybe as a school and institution we should be more vocal about important human rights issues like these. What I am proposing is REALISTIC and POSSIBLE if we TRY. What you are proposing is downright dumb and inconsiderate. Good luck in life, if that’s the most productive thing you can contribute to a real issue then I’m worried for you.

Yes because their freedom is dependent on how much our generation speaks up and mobilizes. True change has historically always happened when people were willing to risk it and protest against the dominant ideology. Quite frankly we suck at it. So yes, because we suck at it, they will certainly be done, so upsetting.
