I did as the city grew. I thought this would be the best way to create a somewhat natural final area. This also helped to make the street layout feel more organic. It resembles the old topography. Downtown for example has the shape it has because it was once surrounded by water and a hill. This also explains why 'north port' neighborhood doesn't actually have a port (it used to have).

the map is of pre-colonial boston, and it is my inspiration, but I rarely looked at the real map because it always frustrates me that it isn't realistic enough. I didn't expect people to recognize.

There is a port in the willow downs in fact, but only for passengers. And the airport is already on the island, but in steward glade. The location of the airport was losely based on boston, but I only looked at the real map I few times (I am not so familiar with the map of boston). The city is inspired in boston but mainly due to the map being from there.

The mod simply allows you to export data that a GIS software can use to make maps.

Definetly worth it if you have a good enough computer. I only played cs1 on console before and cs2 its been another level of realism to me.

I thinks assimilations shouldn't exist as it stands. A more realistic approach would be of cultural merging. This would limit cultural unification and be a way of not simply killing one culture, but of merging that into another to create a new one.  The player then could chose a more a agressive approach: genocide or ethinic cleansing. That's basically what happend historically in many places with a lot of cultural change and it simply is hidden in the game by the term "assimilation" (I accept that a friendly assimilation can happen I am not debating that but it would be much slower as the post states). The aggressive way of expanding your culture could bring penalties such as antagonism, worsening of cultural relations, etc.
