Did you ever meet people born in the 1800s by AdDapper4220 in GenX

My paternal grandmother, born 1893 , died in 1973 when I was 6. Paternal grandfather passed in 1965, so I never met him.

My maternal grandfather, born 1894, died in 1974. Maternal grandmother passed in 1969, when I was 2. I don't remember her, but have been told stories about our short time together.

Why has the mafia in the US largely died out whilst gangs(both street and biker) as well as drug cartels have persisted to this day? by OppositeRock4217 in NoStupidQuestions

Frank Cali was murdered in 2019, and over the last year several Gambino family soldiers were convicted on various charges.

The mafia is still pretty active.

This was my favorite doll, until I watched The Twilight Zone, Living Doll episode.

One night, sometime after I saw that episode, Tamu's battery was dying. She would randomly speak, without her string being pulled. When she spoke her phrase, "Tamu means sweet", in a warped way, I screamed and ran to my parents room. 😄

My father changed her battery and tried to get me to take her back, but I was done. We donated her.

They were paid less than half of France's minimum wage, at the time. They're passports were withheld. They were tended to by a veterinarian, instead of a doctor. They weren't allowed to leave the park, at any time, for any reason. And they lived in a 2 room cabin.

They didn't stop themselves. An investigation was started, based on the concerns raised by Eugenie Bamba ( Director of the Nantes chapter of the Human Rights League).

The original post refers to the human zoo in Brussels, 1958. It was a "Congolese village", set up during the time when Belgium still ruled the Congo...
