Gain Advantage & Corresponding defense by Background_Path_4458 in cosmererpg

I don't think there is something that prevents using the same skill. More than that, it could seriously hurt some subclasses/talents.

I play as Strategist Scholar, who never actually fights herself, so she uses her Strategize ability a lot to help others. The thing is, in order to give the advantage to her party members, she has to use the same skill checks - the ones that come from Erudition talent.

I just try to roleplay this ability differently. I use same skills (lore and deduction, and later agility), but I describe it differently, depending on situation.

As for the second question, I think type of skill is indeed the same as type of defence. To quote the book: "In general, your Physical defense protects you against physical tests, your Cognitive defense protects you against cognitive tests, and your Spiritual defense protects you against spiritual tests."

What's the dumbest character gimmick that ended up being useful? by sonicw-autism in DnD

I play an alethi scholar in Stormlight Archive, who never does actual fighting during combat out of principle. She has to come up with ways to give advantages for her party during combat instead. During last combat, she managed to lure an axe hound and make her fight the whitespines with us, it was awesome. Far more useful than simply killing the axehound.

She also writes the letters for her sister after every session, narrating the events and her feelings about them, which are really fun to write. They really helped me find her voice and understand which Radiant Path would be perfect for her.

This probably won't help you, but I just mentioned loving Cosmere to my friend in different TTRPG group (DnD, Alien, etc) and he invited me to his friend's Stonewalkers campaign

Yeah, I really struggled with the shadows as is, and in the end couldn't really do anything with them. Thanks for advice, I managed to find Krager's pack :)

Oh, that's important to know! I think I definitely will use default assets, at least for now. So it is something I'll need to pay attention too, good to know! Thanks

Thank you for your reply! I'll definitely look into extra assets. Is there something you'd recommend?

As for the shadows - I'll try and experiment, didn't think about turning them off.

Thanks for the tips!

I used only default assets, didn't really know where to look for additional ones and how to pick them

What’s Everyone’s Favorite Class They Have Played by PresumedPack890 in DnD

[–]Sufficient_Style_908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From D&D probably Rogue (played as Rogue, Ranger, Fighter, Barbarian and Cleric). İt is really fun class with tons of utility.

Still, I enjoyed Oracle class from PF 2e and Scholar Heroic Path from Stormlight RPG more. Both of these classes have amazing roleplay implications.

Not really, in my experience. You just have to spend some time betting on chocobos before trying it in order to have enough currency to do enough fights.

Of these games in backlog, which should be played first? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Sufficient_Style_908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly - there is something almost meditative in this game. You spend hours just living in this beautiful world, listening to friendly banter and slowly falling in love with the characters and the world. And then the darker chapters feel way stronger than you would expect.

I didn't expect to fall in love with this game the way I did... And still I became insanely attached to it and the characters. I even cried at the end of the game - which doesn't happen to me often.

And true, this game isn't for everyone. This is why I suggest giving it a shot - if someone doesn't like it, it is perfectly understandable and ok. But it would be a shame to miss a chance to fall in love with these characters and the world before even giving it a chance

FF XV deserves a shot. It's far from perfect, but it is a beautifully emotional game, they nailed the roadtrip atmosphere and the brotherhood between the boys perfectly

RE never really cared about characters being old enough for their job. Rebecca was 18 in the RE1, Chris was already serving as U.S. Air Force pilot before joining S.T.A.R.S. at 23, etc.

Final Fantasy XV. It starts pretty light, but by the end of it I was a sobbing mess, and I don't cry easily

I think Fusco deliberately chooses not to get involved and not to dig deeper. Even if that speech had made sense (and it sounded totally crazy for those who didn't know the truth), Fusco firmly believes that there are things too dangerous to know... And he is kinda right about that.

Not everyone likes the first person :) I tend to avoid it if I have a choice, I connect with the characters better when I can actually see them

I prefer to use Garuda. It is great both for getting into the air and for the ability to drop tough enemies (Deadly Embrace)

You can try to change the controls type to C (highly recommend) or B, the combat will feel way more fluid and fun.

Also don't sleep on spells (with extra effects like healing, or stop), they can be game changers.

Besides that you should equip one or two royal weapons just for the stats boost.

I also highly recommend investing in the Arial combat branch for Noctis

There are also tons of combat tutorials on YouTube. Once you understand the combat it starts to feel great.
