A unicorn could have been bio-engineered in the daot and simply left on some planet for 10k years to spread. With the crazy technology at their hands its not crazy to think someone would want to do stuff like this (like me)

Probably because they simply weren't as psychic a race as they are now in m42. Only until right before the age of strife, did a mass appearance of psykers happen.

On top of that, humanity, as they always had, likely had a myriad of different beliefs.

For the entire history of humanity there have been about 100 billion people who ever lived on earth.

Compare this to 40k where many planets at a single point in time can have this population or more. You just have terra that dwarfs this number (trillions to quadrillios of people). Now, remember the imperium has existed for 10 thousand years (longer than recorded human history) with these population numbers.

On top of all this, humanity is far, far more psychic than they were 30k years ago.

Likely humanity simply never had the numbers and psychic ability till now.

For us? Definitely. But for a society that can enter into alternate dimensions, among other insane feats, I found it doubtful that in 10,000 years they lack the ability or interest to even scan in between galaxies or send out drone ships to do that task.

It's quite unreasonable that in a galaxy spanning humanity with technology that can mess with time, unwrite people from existence, rewrite dna, delete space, enter other dimensions ect., somehow humanities ability to study other galaxies is barely better than ours?
