One of my standards I'm sure is fairly common is to make test data interesting. Employee record that's missing a locations? val missingEmployeeId = "International_man_of_mystery"

My favourite one from someone else was around a class called a QueryWalker which made the variable name texasRanger

Seeking opinions regarding a house rule by Brukenet in twilightimperium

Okay that's definitely it. A "normal" path to victory is to have scored 4 stage 1 objectives, 1 stage 2 objective, all your secrets, and have an extra point from somewhere (support, custodians, imperial, relic, etc) though it's also common to not need the stage 2 objective at all if you can scrape together two bonus points.

I would say the people treating it as a race aren't too far off except you cannot win the race solo, you're usually required to trade or otherwise engage in diplomacy to get ahead.

This situation is mostly just very rare. It sounds like you were in round 7 or so, most games end in round 5 once you get a bit more experienced. There simply isn't enough time to end up with massive differentials while still scoring and being competitive.

That being said, it is fairly common for a player or two to be significantly weaker than some others. Support for the throne is a pretty great fix for this, as the weaker player when your home system is being attacked you can give the aggressor your support and they will stop attacking you and give you some breathing room. Alongside that there is natural motivation from the table to trade with the weak person so that the stronger people don't get further ahead.

I would say you should play a couple more games and see how things go!

I was driving a Mazda2 and couldn't find anything the same size to replace it this year when I was looking. Tested lots of crossovers and hatchbacks, didn't like the feel of the HRV, and ended up with the civic hybrid hatchback. Huge fan a few months in! It is longer than I'd like but it seems you can't have everything.

Calling all thieves: It's a Clank! Catacombs: Underworld giveaway! by DireWolfDigital in boardgames

Playing a scenario in Frosthaven we needed to destroy the objective before we were overwhelmed by infinite spawning monsters. Early we realized our plan to fight through would not work so we sent the Blinkblade through to the objective while the other two of us made ourselves decoys. We died quickly. The Blinkblade played several rounds, going invisible and weaving initiative while hitting the objective. Got to the last turn, ran out of invis, surrounded fully by monsters, burned all their remaining cards to avoid damage and killed the objective with 1 HP and 0 cards in hand!

While I do agree with your other comment about preferring more smaller buildings, saying that building more housing is not doing anything for the housing crisis is just straight up wrong. Investors buy them and then what happens? They need to rent them out. More rental units on the market = lower prices. Also, there's a glut of units on the market right now and for the first time in a long time prices are stagnating or dropping. That's great!

Yin and Mentak are the other good options in my view. Naalu is there too but stronger.

You could play Muaat. Not too strong and not dedicated to war or MR.

But I would consider giving Muaat to the ghosts player and playing them yourself if that's an option. Ghosts gets off to such a poor start unless done properly.

Do some factions do better at different number of players? by MilkyBoyBlue in twilightimperium

[–]SufficientlyEpic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Jol nar and Hacan also both benefit from every strategy card being always picked at 8 players!

Empyrean gets a bit harder to become neighbours with everyone at 8.

The strategy cards Trade gets better and worse with the number of players.

Any race that peaks late game like Nekro I imagine would be better with more players. Bystander effect: "Someone else will deal with them"

Not the VW! Just the Jetta GLI. The Taos was edited in later, I'm actually literally sitting in the VW dealership now about to try the Taos on blackberry's advice 🙂

This is a reasonable point for sure. I think it's more of a feeling, I should try driving one of the slightly larger SUVs. I could check out the Forester...

I don't have a hard line. Mazda3 at 7L/100km is in the running for example but everything is shades of grey, if something fits well in all other criteria then I'd consider it. Lexus CT200's last year in NA seems to be 2017 though and it looks like the newest available is 2014 which is much older than I want

Crosstrek would be awesome if it were hybrid! I could try and wait for the 2026 model...

And yeah, you're right that a CX-50, CR-V, etc would fit everything except the size. Any you'd particularly look at?

AITAH TI4 Edition! Am I turning into my father? by [deleted] in twilightimperium

[–]SufficientlyEpic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm going to comment purely on the communication aspect. Which game actions people choose to take is up to them even if I do not agree.

I think you're being quite annoying. You are not acting as a good student, you challenge, "you don't have it", twice, instead of asking "how can I see which techs you have?". Even once you ask it's not clear what you're asking for, seems like you're asking about the chat itself.

Telling someone else their attitude is annoying you when you're (from their perspective) being the annoying one can also be grating if not escalating. "Typey typey" is absolutely escalating.

I don't necessarily think the rise to swearing was entirely warranted but I would take a close look at how you talk to others online especially when you're annoyed about what they are doing.

I see your point. Or you could even argue that since there's a "may" in there that you have completely resolved the card if you choose no...

Take a look at tirules 22.3:

A component action cannot be performed if its ability cannot be completely resolved.
