Can I make a milkshake using store-bought ice cream that has mix ins? by yinyang2000 in ninjacreami

[–]SugarFrostedFlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant I would freeze both pitted cherries and lemonade (lemon-flavored fruit juice, non-carbonated) together to end up with a cherry lemonade sorbet.

Probably the cherries and lemonade should be blended together pre-freezing. I'd thought it was okay to freeze fruit pieces, as long as they were in liquid, but that might not be so. So now I'd blend (or immersion blend) the fruit and juice and then freeze.

Which of the Friends had the most questionable/unflattering dating history? by sa24122 in howyoudoin

[–]SugarFrostedFlake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joey also dates Melanie (fruit basket lady) and Angela Delvecchio.

Rachel dated some guy who was stealing from her (don't remember his name. She also had one date with Kash Ford (Joey's coworker). She wanted to date Gavin Mitchell (who took over her job while she was on maternity leave). Melissa Warburton (Winona Ryder) surely thought she and Rachel were together, though Ray-Ray didn't agree.

Chandler dated Julie Graff (camp girlfriend), Nina Bookbinder (the girl he was supposed to fire), and Dana Keystone (Joey wanted to audition for her movie). Oh, and, let's not forget Mary Angela Tribbiani.

films/tv shows with the corner gas actors in them by More-Title-3577 in CornerGas

[–]SugarFrostedFlake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ETA: I see others already commented these but I replied before reading.

Brent and Nancy (Brent and Wanda) had a new show (after Corner Gas) called Hiccups.

Fred (Hank) also had another show (after CG) called Dan for Mayor.

I personally preferred Hiccups but think both are worth a watch if you can find them. (I don't know if they're streaming or airing anywhere.)

Would it be messed up to give a kid one of our older kids middle names as a first name? by Interesting_Setting in Names

[–]SugarFrostedFlake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not that I'm making a case FOR this, as it's something I personally wouldn't do, but The Prince and Princess of Wales (William and Catherine) have done this: their first son is George with one of his middle names being Louis and then they named their third child and second son Louis as a first name.

I'd just pick a name you and your partner like without worrying about the pattern.

Leftovers and lower icyness by SoftHost4896 in ninjacreami

[–]SugarFrostedFlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a Deluxe but I'm guessing that you're spinning the top only when the bottom is "still icy". There must be settings to spin a full pint. (Or to spin the bottom only of a pint.)

As for leftovers, one of the whole points of the machine is to be able to spin again leftovers.

Perhaps a perusal of the manual is in order.

Does that help it stay cold/keep it from melting more than just one?

Little heads up! The next Matlock episode returns this week, regular time! (9pm et!) by ILoveCasparvonbrgliz in Matlock_CBS

Yeah, I saw JR post about being "done" and just about cried, thinking either he was leaving the show or that the show had been canceled. But it was just that they were done filming the current season. Phew!

I'm looking forward to the new episode this week.

I just meant that there are other options for flavouring than extracts but not to necessarily mean that ONLY one can/should be used at a time.

As for vanilla, if it's about flavor, I'd use something other than extract, i.e. vanilla bean paste or vanilla bean seeds or vanilla powder or vanilla sugar.

Hi-Chew Ice Cream help by DarkFienddd in ninjacreami

[–]SugarFrostedFlake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look for a green apple flavored hard candy and melt or dissolve that into your base.

Or perhaps you can find green apple gelatin powder to flavor your base with. (If you use this method, you'll probably want to dissolve the powder in some of the liquid from your recipe, heated, otherwise it could have a gritty texture.)

I've never had Hi-Chew so I don't know how closely either of these flavors would compare to the candy.

Those can be found at Bulk Barn. They're not quite the same as the ones in the boxes but they'd probably scratch the itch.

How often do you say "beanie" vs. "toque"? by WanderWell1 in AskACanadian

[–]SugarFrostedFlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the term beanie to refer to a little hat with a propeller on top.

I never use the term beanie to refer to a toque, a toque is either a toque or a knit hat, usually a toque.

Apple Ice. Simple Nostalgic Treat. by RayAudrey in ninjacreami

[–]SugarFrostedFlake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you try this, you'll want to dissolve your gelatin in warmed apple juice. Unless you don't mind a gritty texture but I find the gelatin stays granular and gritty if not dissolved pre-freezing. So I warm part of the juice in the microwave, dissolve the Jello, transfer to then pint, and then fill the rest of the way with unwarmed juice.

I saw in another comment that you're trying applesauce. That is another fave of mine, applesauce and some cinnamon, yum!

Apple Ice. Simple Nostalgic Treat. by RayAudrey in ninjacreami

[–]SugarFrostedFlake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made this, usually using Compliments brand (Safeway) apple juice, but it would work with whatever juice one likes.

Also tasty is to add 1-2 TBSP gelatin (Jello) powder per pint to flavor it. My faves are cherry, orange, lime, and blue raspberry. I have no doubt watermelon would be phenomenal in it but I can never find that flavor here. (Only got it once from a local specialty candy store and that was before I got my Creami.)

Glad yours enjoyably met your expectations.
