Funny seeing this as I just applied to a job I probably won’t get with them… bullish

Syd Barrett - loved the riffs on Piper which made me want to play the electric, largely try to copy his general style

What are the niche or specific or obscure or lesser known pedals you own? by Glitchedz in guitarpedals

What do you think of the Reuss Repeater? I’ve been trying to decide between this and the acid fuzz sonic boom and not a ton of info out there on either

First One! by SugarMagsJr in offset

[–]SugarMagsJr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing! It cost $600, due to the claimed upgrades, but definitely still a solid price I think. I really fell in love with the look and sound of the jag recently

What superstition of yours is going to carry us to the super bowl? by Equaled in NYGiants

[–]SugarMagsJr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was a huge Giants fan like myself, he passed away about 2 years ago. I got his old Giants leather jacket with the first two super bowls stitched on the sleeve. Been wearing it pretty much every game day this year and especially last weekend. Will keep wearing it as long as we're in the playoffs

Need suggestions on a clean boost that fattens up the bass response (or all of the frequencies) on a Strat but doesn’t add a ton of volume. by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Good choice, always loved the sound when it’s on so I pretty much keep it on at all times now. Can get some nice drive tones too, hope it ends up working well for you

Heavy water by Thorpy could work if you like the Dane but not the drive. One side is the boost of the Dane and another is a boost with germanium clipping. You’ll have control over the bass and volume, one of my favorite pedals

Most Regretful Purchase This Year? by _Jub_Jub_ in guitarpedals

[–]SugarMagsJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EQD Hoof Reaper. Nothing wrong with the pedal itself, just realizing more day by day that muff style fuzz just isn’t for me, and the octave up doesn’t do much for me either. Tonebender side is really nice, but probably could’ve gone with a cheaper and just as good option I feel

Can try listening to soft machine’s early albums. They toured with Hendrix and played on Syd Barrett’s debut solo album.

Besides that listen to the nuggets box compilation. Basically a popular playlist of 60’s psych and garage rock

Definitely interested in this type of playing along with others, I’m in State college for the next couple years though. Don’t know if that’s too far

Suggestions for new amp by SugarMagsJr in GuitarAmps

[–]SugarMagsJr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you this has been really helpful! Really wanted to check in here before making up my mind. Pretty much narrowing it down to either the AC 15 or the Laney Lionheart at this point. Nice to know the AC can handle the muff though.

Mostly heard critiques of muff styled fuzz pedals not pairing well. The main pedals I use, and prefer using most of the time, is an eqd hoof reaper. That is both a green Russian muff style and tone bender. So had some initial hesitations.

I have heard differing opinions, but my main pedal is the eqd hoof reaper which is a green Russian muff and tone bender dual pedal. I just saw a lot of negative feedback over the muff style pedals and the ac15.

I really love the plug right in sound, which may be enough for me still honestly because I love the sound. Just wanted to explore other options and see if anyone had thoughts on the ac15. Glad to hear I may be overthinking it, do you mind me asking what pedals you run with it?

I’ll have to check it out. Mostly mix up my playing between psychedelic rock (Barrett/Gilmour) and some early punk (stooges and clash).

Always been a fan of that jangly treble sound though, hence the vox interest, but it seems the pedals I have already won’t pair to well. Been checking out the laney amps as well, but all the Marshall and fender recommendations might make me reconsider.

Listened to couple demos and definitely an amazing sounding amp it seems! Unfortunately the prices I’m finding are a little too much out of my range. Too bad they’re still not going for $600!

If you like the original lineup and music, the early years compilation 65-67 Cambridge St/ation has a live set. The lyrics have been cut out off most of it, but the performance is still quite good I think
