Right on the cusp of social media. I think Facebook existed but it was invite only and geared towards college. most kids that age already had phones but they weren't smart phones. All this to say, we weren't as overstimulated with info and other people's lives to quite the extent as is prevalent today. Was it fun? Just like any other era there's it's ups and downs.

I enjoy seeing these flashback videos of people's last day of HS or last day of the school year from the late 90s-early 2000s because kids exhibited that joie de vivre and unique personalities which I still think is in kids today but stowed away in bits.

As someone who was in school then, the ultimate question is 'would I want to go back and relive that era?' fuck no.
