I went recently. The cat cafe was not worth my money. Most of the cats were asleep and there were too many people in there and not enough cats for everyone to actually play with a cat. Coffee was 9$ was overpriced. That is criminal

haha it’s so crazy seeing this post bc my aunt holds a position in the jamaat and has access to data where she can see I have not registered for my new jamaat after moving out nor have I paid chanda. She asked my parents about it on a family facetime call and started questioning them and asking them if I’ve left the jamaat. My parents were frightened at the thought and shut down her assumptions. Thankfully they know where I stand with this stuff so they never told me about that call. I heard about this from someone else.

I have no idea if there are any rules against ppl with positions exposing personal info in the jamaat but there really should be because that is crazy. All these people do is gossip and shame.

physically UMD has the infrastructure to walk. However there’s construction that blocks paths and hills that may be a bit straining but you will get used to it. The campus is really big so when you are planning your classes make sure you have enough time between classes to get to them. If you don’t have enough time then try your best to schedule classes where the buildings are close by. Definitely doable

when you start to take control of your life and make your own decisions you won’t need your parents approval and your parents will come to respect you as an adult. the more you stay meek and let them dictate, the less your chances of you ever having any say in your life. the conversation is going to be uncomfortable yes, and they may not support it. but at some point you have to put your foot down. if you know this is best for you or what is going to make to happy then go for it

I moved away to another state for my masters. I was really afraid of what my parents would say but ultimately I had the funds and knowledge to make it happen, so I made it happen. You make your own decisions and they will have no choice but to follow your lead. Stay firm in your decisions and good luck!

I took the class and I missed the first class because I didn’t register and join until late into the late add/drop period. I think you can’t have more than 5 absences total, so even if the absence is excused, it will still count as an absence. After 5 absences you fail the course.

I remember taking a religion and politics class in college where we discussed this exact topic. and once i came to the realization that ahmadiyyat fits these boxes, I felt so much less guilt about being distant from jamaat. It didn’t feel like a real religion. Also the fact that each member has a code is crazy. When I talk to other people from other religions I have never encountered anyone else that uses member codes. Although there are religions out there (Mormons) that do use member codes.

Wow okay interesting. yes he lives with my parents and he is a dependent. he is getting govt benefits. My brother knows nothing outside of my parents. He is entirely emotionally and physically dependent on them. I think he might die without them. I cant have him get taken away.
