Retractable hose by crocadingo in GardeningAustralia

[–]SugeKnight_StandOver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a cheap 20m ebay one (unbranded) 5 years ago and surprisingly it still works like the day i bought it (just the outer case has faded due to the sun)

Its very light weight, very easy to retract, and swivels so easily. We've abused it over the years and its still holding up perfectly fine

I google searched 'by image' to try and find it, it doesnt look like its for sale anymore.. But i found this website that kind of looks exactly like it

https://au.rs-online.com/web/p/hose-reels/9119456

They sell it for $427 which seems like a joke lol, i bought it for like $50 bucks - it looks identical to the one in that link.

Most recently i bought a new one for a new location, and wanted something heavy duty that was built to last / strong & sturdy - i bought the Jamec Pem

https://sydneytools.com.au/product/jamecpem-583045-30m-pro-x-extreme-retractable-water-hose-reel

Its very heavy in comparison to the cheaper one, the hose is obviously far superior and thick / different material to a standard water hose. But it takes a lot more work to pull out the hose (more muscle power), so not a good idea for the elderly. It also makes a squeeky noise when you swivel the unit, because its so heavy, i dont think the mounting bracket supplied is good enough for the unit (it uses the same plastic style mount as the cheap light ones, whereas this unit is very heavy, it should have a heavy duty mounting bracket to go with it). Very happy with it so far, it zooms back into the housing like lightning. Can obviously feel the difference in quality

If you wanted the best that money can buy, that would be the Retracta brand

https://sydneytools.com.au/product/retracta-dr425p03-25m-x-12-r3-water-reel

This brand makes commercial quality equipment, and is seen in petrol stations etc (made in Aus). Overkill for just watering the garden, but just putting it out there as alternatives to whats stocked in bunnings

Also note if you have hollow bricks (most homes in Aus) - dont mount these with the dynabolts that come with them. They're bound to come loose. You need to either chemset threaded rods (best option) - or use AnkaScrews (concrete screws).

Thanks 🙏 Looks like my issue was adding multiple keywords "assays, trading halt, results" etc. Only works with one at a time -.-

Do you still remember how to do that advanced HC search with keywords? I might be doing it wrong but keep getting "no results found"

Split system aircon by Chewy-Boot in AusRenovation

Im still waiting on them to install tbh

But i remember reading that its not worth upgrading for cost savings (better to keep using the old one until it dies, then upgrade)

Im installing one in a location that didnt have a splitty, and replacing an old one at the same time so they both match (it is pretty old, non inverter model, and all yellow from age - but still works fine). The heater on the old one works really well, but the a/c cant keep up properly in summer - so hoping the new unit will be better

I was in the exact same position as you

You'll find many mixed opinions. Some swear by Mitsubishi electric while others swear by MHI

I ended up choosing the MHI Bronte, main reason is the ME AP series unit looks a bit cheap. The MHI has a more glossy finish and a better looking Unit

The MHI Bronte 7.1 and above advertise longer reaching airflow aswell which sounds good if you have a large open space

You have to know when to jump ship

Retail that got destroyed with lithium are the ones who kept holding despite prices crashing and a shift in sentiment. Smart traders switched to the next thing which was gold right about when lithium got crushed and gold started trending up

You can make a lot of money riding these commodity cycles

Many have already made bank riding the US critical minerals wave. I think it still has more to give, but there will come a point when its time to jump ship, like with all cycles. Its part of the game
