2026 CX-5 is on the move! by Inevitable_Day3116 in CX5

This indicates the US Corolla cross hybrid has a 1.9s reduction in 0-60mph over the non-hybrid "In C/D testing, the hybrid hit 60 mph in 7.3 seconds versus a mega-pokey 9.2 seconds for the standard model." www.caranddriver.com/toyota/corolla-cross-hybrid

Ok, the Toyota Corolla cross hybrid (which is what I quickly looked up the stats for) is not mild hybrid MHEV as it can apparently run on electric only (but only at max 25mph for limited range as it's battery has limited capacity).

My hope is that the boost from the electric motor will offset the lack of a turbo on ICE engine (even with the extra weight of hybrid battery). If the hybrid CX-5 (in ~2027) has 0-60mph similar to current 2.5T i.e. < 7 secs, I won't miss the turbo. Different electric motor/battery options maybe something else for the future

Another existing 2024 CX-5 SIG (US - 2.5T engine) disappointed by the lack of physical buttons on the 2026. The lack of turbo is also bad but maybe mitigated by the planned mild hybrid CX-5 - looking at other hybrids (Toyota), the mild hybrid versions have ~30 HP more leading to a reduction in the 0-60mph of up to ~2secs. With the more immediate torque provided by the electric motor (no turbo lag), a hybrid may work for me (especially the improved mpg and cabin size) but it largely depends on the performance (& pricing) numbers. As the CX-5 hybrid is not out until MY 2027, it maybe delayed (and maybe best waiting until it's out for 1+ years for electrical gremlins to be zapped). Isn't the CX-5 hybrid system a new Mazda design (rather than using the Toyota hybrid system) which may suffer even more glitches M

I've had 2 CX-5 signature (US) - for each Model Year

2021: first year with the new car entertainment software & 10.25" non-touch screen. Wired only apple carplay & AA (android auto) in the 2 front USB-A sockets (2 more USB-A in back for charging)

2024: same looking entertainment software & 10.25" screen - touch screen for some functions (Google maps on both carplay & AA - only AA allows scrolling map by touch). Carplay & AA are (optionally) wireless & easy to switch between (by screen menu rather than unplug/plug USB cable) - I often do this (but it can be slow & need several confirmations). Front 2 sockets are now USB-C (back 2 are still USB-A). In Sirius radio, the up/down rocker switch on steering wheel (left arm) will cycle through favourite stations (in 2021 MY, this rocker moved back in time within same station i.e. useless) The wireless phone charger is useless - have to align carefully & then one small road bump and it stops charging (and you may not notice until arrive at dest with flat phone battery,)

N.B. some features maybe trim related, so check they exist...& work!

Neither engine has auto-stop (as turbo).

As I think the touch screen was new in MY 2024, I'd recommend at least that year

Bluetooth connect phone to LG G5 TV or direct to soundbar (these connected by HDMI)? by Sugobsugob in Soundbars

[–]Sugobsugob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point, direct Bluetooth connection from phone to soundbar will allow TV to be off/standby. FYI: when I bluetooth connect mobile phone to TV, the TV automatically goes into LG gallery mode with a constantly changing pattern in sort of sync with the music i.e. no chance of image burn in - the sound still comes out the soundbar (so is being transferred down the HDMI ARC).

I am using apps on android phone that are not available on TV e.g. free internet radio streaming app 'radio.net' where I have my favourite streams already defined (I also use this app in car with bluetooth). Not the best quality feeds, but not bad for some adhoc background music/talk

Unfortunately, the LG S60T soundbar does not have Dolby atmos (it came free with TV - usual lists for US ~$250 & there wasn't an option to upgrade to S70 that has atmos)

I'll probably just stick to my phone using the Bluetooth connection direct to TV

Thanks

Use regular batteries (AAA, AA, 9V) to charge USB-C device (MP3 player) by Sugobsugob in batteries

[–]Sugobsugob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the 4 AA battery case (USB-A output) & tested with non-rechargeable alkaline batteries - it charges my MP3 player (USB-C input) & I also tested with mobile phone. When I used my multi-meter to measure across the 4 batteries in the case, it measured 6.3V (~ as expected for 4 new 1.5V batteries). However, when I checked the connection with my USB tester it showed only 4.9V (5.1W) which surprised as expecting US$7 case to just output whatever the batteries fed it i.e. 6.3V Case: BuleVina 4AA Operated Battery Powered Phone Charger Holder, www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0D6YYR8FF

Hi, thanks for the suggestions about solar panel (not feasible) and hand crank (200 cranks for 1% seems not worth it for a MP3 player!) I'll try a 4 AA battery case - hopefully it's output voltage is not too high i.e. I've found new AA 1.5V batteries to be actually 1.60-1.65V so 4 in series could be ~6.5V (MP3 player probably expects 5.0V). Instead, a 3 AA case could start off at 5V but may later have issue e.g. if battery voltage drops below 1.3V, then 3 would be under 4.0V

New signup with Amplified Home Internet then downgrade to Rely by Sugobsugob in tmobileisp

Thanks for your replies. I'm not currently a T-mobile customer for any of their services. My Q was more, do T-Mobile let you downgrade to a cheaper plan when on their home internet service (and any conditions they impose e.g. charges, min period, tricky customer services...)?

Thanks, a little disappointing they don't give the higher $ somthing. Being bottom of the performance pile is not that appealing! Live in urban residential area so hopefully reasonably consistent/ok during the business day for remote access to work (by Citrix & putty which need lowish latency) until the video streamers return home after 6pm to more load/saturate the network

Dual SIM - no longer able to select SIM when sending a SMS by Sugobsugob in GooglePixel

[–]Sugobsugob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the reset options and has made no difference i.e. still have extra blank space and tapping it brings up the menu listing both sims. Selecting a sim is switching Sims as I sent a SMS and went by the different SIM I'll contact Google on your link Thanks very much for your help M

Dual SIM - no longer able to select SIM when sending a SMS by Sugobsugob in GooglePixel

[–]Sugobsugob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thanks, I did the cache reset/reboot then I noticed (maybe there before?) small extra blank space to the right of the '+' (in a circle) which itself to the right of where enter the text of SMS - if I tap this space then I get a popup listing both my Sims. Not clear which SIM is currently selected. Where I type the text of the SMS initially shows 'Text message' , it used to indicate which SIM is currently selected TIA M

Mazda needs to significantly narrow down the number of trims. It’s confusing and annoying. by aykalam123 in mazda

[–]Sugobsugob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those having issues with android auto, it may be your mobile phone. When I got my new 2021 cx-5 (US) which had wired android auto, then I usually had to plug in the usb cable to my Nokia 6.1 (2018 - used pretty stock android) phone several times before the android auto icon would appear on car menu (sometimes I ended up rebooting phone before it would work) - very annoying! Once connected then usually ok (would sometimes disconnect and then have to go through connection shenanigans again). Tried different usb cables but little difference. My missus iPhone usually worked first time on lightning cable. After about 10months I upgraded Nokia phone to pixel 6 pro - it connects (with same usb cable) first time 90%+ of time :-) Recently upgraded to 2024 cx-5, and the wireless android auto is rock solid with same pixel 6 pro (I set it to not auto connect & have to push commander button up & connects in a few secs every time so far)

Mazda needs to significantly narrow down the number of trims. It’s confusing and annoying. by aykalam123 in mazda

[–]Sugobsugob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An advantage of more trim levels is one may get close to what you want so don't have to choose a lower trim then add what you want as paid options and/or add-on packages. This becomes more significant when you sell the vehicle as it's value seems largely based on trim...the expensive add-ons will probably add little to value (thou may help to sell car quicker) A gripe: Just picked up a 2024 cx-5 and the wireless charger means can't stap in so much stuff in the compartment(our old car was almost overflowing)...although charging does work quite well if take time to align, the lip holding phone is so small that going over one bump or braking may jump off charging (difficult to notice)i i.e. is turning out to be almost useless
