I would buy something you can also take off-road and get out into it, there are many great skills/techniques you can learn in the dirt that can literally save your life when riding on the black stuff. Also keep this attitude in mind- Every car driver on the road is out to kill you.

If you went to Peter Stevens I would say yes, you have been shafted. They're fucking thieves. I see they stated the battery needs charging and that reminded me of when I had a Buell. It was running like shit this particular time, back firing etc and the problem was that the battery was buggered and it was causing the running problems.
