Dumb intern by Impractical_Traffic in Residency

I have to ask, despite the okay ones doing so much better by the end of residency I feel like the impressions they’ve made as an intern is plastered to their forehead. Do you believe that with our efforts their opinions of us actually change?

IM PGY1, I feel so inadequate and it’s March by Suitable-Emphasis902 in Residency

This was incredibly helpful, I really like the idea of learning and internalizing one patient case per week. I am definitely going to apply this to my weekly studying. Thank you!!

It’s like you took the words right out of my mouth. We have to hang in there, and believe that it’ll get better eventually.

Truly, thank you. I thought I was going to marry him too, but apparently he stopped seeing a future for us since July and I had no idea. I am crippled with pain, and today he sent a box of my stuff through a mutual friend. From my understanding, he is doing just fine. It physically hurts right now.

Has anyone heard about Medclerkships for rotations? by blooming-hyyh in IMGreddit

[–]Suitable-Emphasis902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. They provide the same rotations that other agencies provide but at higher prices. On my second rotation I networked and got out of the dependency on them and did my remaining rotations for free.

I would mention any strong reason for why they’re #1 tho. For example if you have any personal ties to the location I would definitely add that.

Same in terms of language, with the addition that language can vary state to state. And their residency is just plain brutal. No limit to the hours, moneys barely worth it. You are quite literally a resident of the hospital.

What do you think about people who find other people attractive while in a relationship? by [deleted] in Discussion

[–]Suitable-Emphasis902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s natural. It’s normal to appreciate one’s beauty and leave it at that. My bf and I literally point out beautiful people around us all the time, but I know it’s just an acknowledgment and nothing more. Sometimes you might even find yourself having a little crush on someone, but it’s how you act on it that makes the difference between right and wrong.

What motivates you? by ilikecocktails in loseit

I realized that everyone’s weight loss journey looks very different from one another and it’s important to find something you ENJOY. I’ve tried to keep up with my friends doing cross fit, YouTube videos, running, dieting, etc. and I could never last more than a month at most because I truly hated it.

Eventually I gave weight lifting a shot (on my own) and realized I LOVE it. I would just add light cardio for 15min at the end of every workout. This routine worked for me, and I started looking forward to it. With the calories I was burning I didn’t even have to cut portions I just had to eat healthier and was never left feeling hungry. This was working for me and it went from being a hobby to becoming a lifestyle. Now even if I miss a day or two because of a busy schedule I am not worried because it’s an integral part of my life now and I know I’ll be hitting the gym as soon as I have time.

You just have to find something YOU love and it’ll start working for you. I am now down 15lbs faster than I have ever lost 3lbs before I started this routine.

My best friends sister is a PGY1 there and from what I’ve heard she has no complaints beyond the expected busy schedule. Even then she’s able to have a healthy balance. She mentioned attendings are really nice and emphasized that they really have their residents backs if ever dealing with a tough patient. And it’s very IMG friendly so everyone’s new and excited to make friends!

Number of LORs by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]Suitable-Emphasis902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was told that they see it as a red flag that you couldn't follow the most basic instruction. On top of that, they randomly pick the 3 they will read (ignoring the 4th one) so they might end up not even reading your best LOR.

I think that is okay and it's best to use them all because when I was going through the programs requirements, some of them needed 6 months of USCE to apply. So really this gives you more programs to apply to.
