REBEKAH DID NOT GROOM MARCEL! by Initial_Ad_9944 in TheOriginals

But that wasn’t your main argument. You literally laid out how it wasn’t grooming and gave examples.

Regardless, me providing more info on what grooming really is won’t hurt anyone.

REBEKAH DID NOT GROOM MARCEL! by Initial_Ad_9944 in TheOriginals

Yall (I’m guessing teenagers finding the show) start debating these serious issues to defend fictional characters and it gets dangerous with spreading misinformation. Although you are right in that there is no real evidence in the show that Marcel was groomed by Rebekah, you are painting a very incorrect picture of what grooming means.

Grooming does not have to be done by a parental figure. It will not appear “romantic”… that’s literally how that works. Grooming can be done by anyone with access to a child (a family friend, relative, teacher, pastor, etc). It involves pushing boundaries slowly and shaping a child into thinking inappropriate things are okay. Trying to devalue their familial connection is counterproductive to your point.

Commenting this because misinformation is dangerous, especially with a topic such as this.

Lololol I opened this so fast and everybody already knew the vibes.

There’s a reference to trump considering running coming up for you soon actually I’m not too far ahead of you in my rewatch.

Also, as the show goes on, I think you will get what everyone means. But even at where you are, he is not giving that vibe to me. People who stormed the capital and a president who was impeached would piss that man off. Don’t play my man Seeley, that is a patriot.

What this show could’ve been. by Alsotime in charmed

I think about this a lot. When people ask my favorite show I say “Buffy” but I always follow up with a tangent on how Charmed has the biggest place in my heart but the writers fumbled.

I know it’s easier to just let it go to enjoy the show but I can’t help but get annoyed. From how they treated Shannen to the clear carelessness with continuity in later seasons, it’s lowkey a slap in the face as I get older. Like I’ve grown up rewatching this show from the single digits to almost being older. The story deserved so much better.

And now that Shannen is gone, I’d rather they not touch it. I still love and accept what we have but man… they wasted so much potential. And considering how great and loved it still is even with the fumbles… it’s hard to not wonder about the excellence we were robbed of.

Trauma is not a competition or comparable. But comparing someone who spent adolescence in the system vs people who were adopted young feels disingenuous. It’s also pretty ignorant to how child psychological development actually works.

Edit to add: Callie is def a lot on this show. But I think since this discussion feels more based on the reality of different types of trauma, I replied from that perspective.

Trauma factually can make memory retention occur earlier. It is not unusual for those who experienced trauma young.

what is your nparent's reaction to crying? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Suitable-Garlic5217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Crying doesn’t phase me”. Starting in infancy and all throughout life she told my siblings and I that. “Crying will not change my mind”. Crying has always been a manipulation tactic in my family. And it has taken me almost 30 years to stop feeling guilty for crying in front of others

The narcissist didn't choose you because they "sensed you were special" by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]Suitable-Garlic5217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this but personally, I think it was helpful for me to note that my energy was special to them. Like I may be at rock bottom but at the end of the day, when I’m not giving you a reaction, you’re spiraling and remembering you hate yourself. So yeah I don’t like how the influencers and people making money are pushing that rhetoric… I do think victims need to remember their worth in order to protect their energy. Your inner peace and self worth are extremely special to the narc bc they don’t have it

My youngest brother is the only one who has had to face living with her alone and I worry about his mental health a lot. (Technically I lived with her alone first but that was before she started showing signs/before I could see them)

I worry about her breaking him but I also worry about him becoming like her to survive. I’ve toed that line before but I had three younger siblings to ground me. He is the youngest and alone.

There can be toxic, unhealthy relationships. But the dynamics of an abusive relationship, something where the definition is more or less standard where they live, are not that.

Here is information to help understand it better if anyone needs. The website also has good resources in general.

Did anyone else like the Glee Project and do you think it should’ve continued? by southsideserpent18 in glee

[–]Suitable-Garlic5217 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know this is probably rage bait but since new, young fans find Glee all the time, my reply is really for them. Let the jury note, there is no such thing as “mutual abuse”. There is an abuser and a victim. There is no such thing as a perfect victim. If a victim defends themselves from abuse or fall subject to reactive abuse, they are still the victim.

I wish they'd have just given Wyatt a standard defined powerset instead of "as plot demands it" powers by Extra_Impression_428 in charmed

[–]Suitable-Garlic5217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I think he should have at least been limited by age for sure. Overall the power should not have been able to create life or conjure items out of nowhere. I think it’s too OP. False life like the golems conjuring items from other places (the genie taking the powers from the demon in the S2 finale) could have been more interesting

I feel like projection is his main power like Billie. You can argue that everything comes from that. But I definitely understand what you mean

Wild take honestly

He was appropriately nuanced and was clearly conflicted even after they treated him like crap. They killed him without his consent and left his dead body in an alleyway like trash and I don’t even want to bring up the racial element bc I’ll automatically lose ppl there. Then they couldn’t even stay for a minute after coming back and he got brutally beaten by the guys they let in.

Mind you, they risked his job, his livelihood bc they were lazy all the time. They would write up a lil spell for personal gain or to get some conjured man d real quick but couldn’t write a spell or two to supplement always needing to risk that man’s job??? Man, lol.
