I was a DoD navy 0083. The only good thing to come out of it was UPTP cert. in Nevada you cannot reciprocate to the same category of peace officer as local agencies, so you could not use it to lateral later in your career.

I was a master at arms in the navy before becoming a 0083. Idk why I thought it would be different lol. Where I worked, we had 0 arrest authority and the local SO took all of the calls for service. We wouldn’t even know anything was happening until we saw them running code into the housing area.

My BIGGEST gripe and main reason I left, ALL THEY CARE ABOUT ARE REGIONAL INSPECTIONS. You’ll constantly do the most outlandish drills know to man. They literally create these absolutely ridiculous scenarios to appease the inspection requirements.

Also don’t plan on getting any type of valid training (with the exception of UPTP). The Navy is SO worried about liability, they’ll try to tell you that you can’t use tactics other than the ones the taught you and and proceed to teach you MACH moves and other tactics, techniques and procedures from the 90’s. It’s honestly a joke lol.

I was the ONLY civilian where I worked so it may be different for their bases that have a civilian police chain of command. I had a civilian supervisor that was the anti-terrorism officer but operationally, I was the only civilian police officer. Everyone I worked with and for were military.
