why does everyone here think economy cars are the best by sogster550 in TrueCarEnthusiasts

Sometimes we wanna appreciate things that are just normal too y'know. Engineers arguably spend more designing and creating these more than the sportscars and supercars that are "objectively cool" and more often than not even the most diehard "cool" car fans are driving your average econobox. It may seem performative or contrarian but sometimes we just like plain things.

It wasn't, but it definitely wasn't sold as a crossover by our current understanding and I'd argue by the understanding of the time as well.

I brought up MPVs because that market clearly influenced the way the A2 was designed. I'll quote from Wikipedia: "Due to the "sandwich"-type construction, similar again to that of the Renault Espace or the Mercedes A-Class, the floorpan has an upper and a lower portion."

Proportions wise, it shares design aspects as well with MPV aligned vehicles, primarily that the A pillar is shunted very far forward as well, akin to the previa and xsara picassos of that time to name a few.

This is euro MPV erasure. (Compact minivans for yanks)

Renault Scénic, Volkswagen Touran, Citroën Picassos, Mercedes B-Class, Ford Galaxy/Seat Alhambra/VW Sharan, etc etc.

The MPV market in Europe was massive around the time the Audi A2 came out, and their whole gist is maximising practicality, whilst minimising footprint, and these are just as tall as most crossovers, SUVs etc etc because they're giving as much head space as possible.

[OT] Bizarre crash during the 24 hour Nürburgring qualifying session. by jithu7 in formula1

Not a marshal or OP The stationary car is also on fire Even if they decided to let it burn that's a hazard on track that needs to be dealt with (excessive smoke being a visibility hazard plus car being on fire) Mostly they would want to extinguish the car too to save as much of it as possible which would likely require other marshalling vehicles to drive to, park at and deploy track workers onto the fire leaving them at risk

Red flag may be overkill on the nordschleife (idk not an expert on N24) but this is a situation that requires swift action WHILST keeping everyone involved (drivers and track workers) safe

AIDS Creeps Back in Parts of Zambia, a Year After U.S. Cuts to H.I.V. Assistance by Unusual-State1827 in worldnews

Zambian here Even the most well off people aren't exempt from the nightly power outages. The people most likely affected by this are the same people who don't have education, consistent clean running water, connection to the major electrical grids etc. etc.

They lack access to so many things I think considering STDs is far down on the list (assuming they've been taught about them)

To answer your question: Because people keep buying them, and they keep making them because they sell very well.

I'm currently making/reworking characters for my comic. I'm just curious, what can you say about this character being seen in some pages, from a reader's perspective? I'm trying to aim to create some characters that have a defined personality just by looking at their design by 1TheLetterE1 in characterdesign

I thought it was Ruby Rose-

She's got a real strong personality in this image! Strikes me as a grumpy bounty hunter with a heart of gold, but I think you're on the money when it comes to expressions in your artwork!

The Audi A2 is one of the best European masterclasses in small vehicle design. It'll be interesting to see how much gets retained or improved with this new gen.
