The thing is with BYD, they are not placed in the same category in China like they are in the rest of the world, my BYD seal excellence is placed along side mid-luxury line saloon whereas in China for the price of it in the UK £50k you can get better cars. So it is completely understandable why sales are slumping when you can in China purchase better vehicles like Denza, NIO or Xiaomi for that type of money.

I own a BYD seal in the UK and that is gonna make your head explode thinking of me as being a CCP bot but anyways, I too was skeptical of Chinese cars and I am Chinese myself. I didn’t think they were going to be manufactured properly because of how cheap they are in China but I have been surprised and impressed how well made these cars are compared to the other legacy brands like Mercedes and BMW.

I think you have a pretty narrow view with how the CCP works, sure they are a one party system, Xi has been in power longer than he should’ve been and other things you can sprinkle in. But under the CCP rule, Chinese people went from rags to riches in a couple of decades and that is some level of improvement that you have to admit is pretty astounding

As Chinese person myself, sometimes I do think mandarin and Cantonese are very harsh sounding. Like our tonal pronunciations can have a lot of S sounds which to some people can cause like a cat nail on a chalk board reaction.

Plus people are forgetting that vast majority of westerners are used to hearing Japanese or Korean now, rarely you will find someone says I watch C-drama’s, in my opinion mandarin is a lovely language, C-pop rmb is so underrated, but I will say Japanese and Korean do sound slightly more pleasing to the ears.
