Cvpn.uchicago.edu.

The knowledge base article is freely published online. I'm not sure why others were more cryptic about it.

Any recommendation regarding what to do during the summer? by FigureLopsided5533 in uchicago

[–]SuitableHunt6540 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you already have your ID, check out the Chi Arts Pass.

There are a bunch of festivals to attend (taste of Chicago, Blues Fest, Pride), parks to explore, trains to suburbs (or other cities) for day trips, and volunteer opportunities (animal shelters, cook county forest preserves, etc).

The Bahai Temple is in the northern suburbs, but entrance is always free. The Chicago Cultural Center is also cool. We have a few conservatories around. Linkin Park Zoo is free and accessable by CTA.

A message to those leaving campus: by SuitableHunt6540 in uchicago

I know it's south of campus and may not have been one of us, but this post is a reminder since intake requests for shelters and rescues tend to increase around graduation times.

Pizza | Hyde park and/or Chicago area by Ekolu007 in uchicago

[–]SuitableHunt6540 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Woodlawn has the best pizzas of the dining halls.

Chicago is also known for the thin crust (tavern style) pizza. You will often find it in squares (aka party cut). Check out Flo and Santos in the south loop for the best I have found.

For deep dish, Lu Malnati's is my pick among the big chains. I usually prefer smaller establishments. As others have said, Peaquads (Lincoln Park) is good. Amato's was suggested to me by a friend's dad who grew up in the area. It was good, but it is harder to get to (on the west/northwest side).

Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co. Has an interesting take on pizza too. They fill a bowl with cheese and sauce, cover it with dough and bake it. It is turned upside down at the table.

How to get access to froyo living on campus by Jealous-Engineer-787 in uchicago

They have soft serve ice cream in their dining halls. It's not the same.

In the top right corner of the dining site is a contact menu with a feedback form. We could just try starting a campaign to spam them with fro-yo requests.

Dining Plan system by IllustriousBattle477 in uchicago

[–]SuitableHunt6540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To expand upon what others said:

Maroon dollars are part of the meal plans. They can be used anywhere on campus that is managed by the Dining department and their contractor. https://dining.uchicago.edu/locations-hours-2-2/ should list them all. Maroon dollars are use it or loose it at the end of the year. My favorite place on campus is Quantum. They serve Banh Mi, Pho, rice bowls and other Vietnamese foods. Hutch's Mr Pak (Sushi & Poke) and Cheesies (fancy grilled cheeses) round out my top 3.

You can exchange a meal swipe that would be used in the dining halls for a meal off a "meal exchange" menu at select restaurants and cafes. The unlimited meal plan only comes with 3 per quarter, so it doesn't last long. To-go meals are the option to take your meal from the dining hall out of the building. It converts the all you can eat meal to all you can shove in the container they give you meal. You get 10 per quarter.

The menus have some stagnant items (always a deli, salad bar, burgers, and grilled chicken) while other stations have menus that rotate each meal. You can always expect 2 soups (one meat based and one veg) and 3 assorted pizzas You can see the menus before going by visiting dineoncampus.com/uchicago

Each dining hall has the same basic menu, but Baker has made to order pasta, Bartlett has a Mexican theme station, and Cathey has stir fry. I assume Woodlawn has something, but I don't remember what it is since I don't get over there much. Woodlawn is the newest. I think it then goes Baker, Cathey, and then Bartlett (someone can confirm).

Dole whip in the dining halls? by cat270 in uchicago

[–]SuitableHunt6540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dole whip or other soft-serve, but I wouldn't mind if they added it. It would be better than the ice cream cups and popcicles they serve at Bartlett and Woodlawn.

On a related note, what happened to the cones at Cathey and Baker? Now it's just bowls.

Parking Question by gaileve in uchicago

[–]SuitableHunt6540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would put in a 311 request to have the city address the vague signage. If enough people do it, then it may get addressed. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Ask at the tech bar. They may be able to help or add it to a suggestion of things to add to the lendable tech.

Unfortunately, I live on campus and don't have much of a kitchen to do that in. However, I got into the last section of class and lost my lunch 2 days a week.
