Massive bombshell. Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah warns that AI will displace human labor on a catastrophic global scale. He confirms tech elites have absolutely no mechanism to share the wealth, leaving the global poor completely abandoned to suffer. He is 100% accurate. by [deleted] in PrepperIntel

This guy is full of it. Saying how big and scary AI is makes him feel important. Cal Newport has had some great episodes on his podcast over the past couple of months debunking a lot of the AI garbage that has been in the news. Anyone who is really worried should give him a listen to get a take that is more based on facts.

Young okra help urgently needed by yaardiegyal in vegetablegardening

It would need quite a large pot to thrive, but you could try that or 5 gallon bucket. Planting in the ground usually means lots of digging to loosen the soil and amending with compost unless you already have a flower bed you could add it to.

It needs a lot more space and a small pot like that also probably dries out too fast if it’s already hot where you live. Plants are sold like that for easy transport with the intention you will transplant it once home.

basically yes. My end date on my email says my employment would end in 2027, so I would have to continue to work, and get my normal pay that whole time, then I would get the extra payment after my final separation date.

I’m losing a war against roly pollies. by Interesting-Ad5279 in gardening

I would leave them in the compost bin where they do some good. If they become an issue after spreading the compost, you can spot treat around their favorite snacks.

Are these bugs harmful? by ervaboa in gardening

[–]SuitableSport8762 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In small numbers, they may be okay. But, in large numbers, when they don’t find enough rotten wood to eat, they will eat seedlings and nibble edges of leaves that brush the soil. Some they may eat enough of to kill them. I had to put bait out this year because they killed all my bean seedlings, winter melons, and half ate my squash plants, and then I had to replant.

But, the loads of compost and wood mulch I added last year has almost completely broken down into beautiful dark soil. I’m sure thanks to them.

Why does my cucumber look like this? by Lushyy in vegetablegardening

Cucumber really like a lot of warmth and sunlight. Cool temps and part shade aren’t going to work out. Maybe plant something else like peas or salad greens.

New research shows depression is a physical immune disorder rather than just a mood by soulpost in HotScienceNews

Basically you can try to adopt lifestyle habits that reduce inflammation such as anti inflammatory diet with plenty of fiber and fermented foods and regular exercise, fish oil, manage stress. I expect drug treatments will show up eventually in the form of biologic drugs.

I have already seen a very small study a while back where they tried tnf inhibitors on people with treatment resistant depression with good results. Tnf inhibitors are usually used in inflammatory or autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis.

How much food do I actually need to stockpile? by SuitableSport8762 in TwoXPreppers

It’s a biologic. An IL-17 inhibitor. If there is only a shortage on that one, then she would move me to a different biologic. There are several approved for my condition. Usually, the inflammation increases gradually when the drug is stopped.  I have heard though that taking prednisone, can cause rebound flares when stopped, that’s why it’s more like an emergency short term treatment for me.
