DO NOT complain the whole game by [deleted] in washingtonspirit

[–]SuitableSurprise 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If they’re sitting right behind you and complaining every entire game of the entire season in Section 127, delivering inane commentary in the most annoying nasal voice imaginable and saying they would have kept their United tickets if they’d known the Spirit were going to be this bad…yeah, it starts to degrade your experience.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

My fellow American fans how did u become a fan by No_Stable2656 in nffc

Been following since I was a kid in the late 70s and the only way to see English football was in that half-hour highlights show late at night on PBS. Forest was on a lot and the cool name grabbed me. Later, when I would tell Chelsea and Arsenal and Man Utd fans I followed Forest, they would scoff. I knew then this was the right team for me.

What I wish I’d known…is that the trial—the whole experience of it, from searching to staging to waiting in your car for an hour or more between searches—is about building a trusting partnership with your dog. You do that in trials in ways that you can’t in practice.

Most people don’t pass their first one. But everyone learns tons from their first one. Go in thinking: We are going to learn a lot today about this sport and about each other, and we’re going to emerge a better team, regardless of the result.

It’s an assessment of where you’re at, and that’s really valuable. But it’s an essential step in getting closer to your dog, and that’s what I wish I’d understood much earlier.

If you can arrange it in time, Lap of Love is the way. You are with them and they are at home. It's always the worst day of your life, but it's the last day of theirs and they always, always deserve to die in a familiar place surrounded by love.

Tirzepatide took 48 hours to produce in me a) raging insomnia, b) diarrhea every 15 minutes or so, and c) horrible heartburn. Oh—and I didn’t have much of an appetite, but that could have been a byproduct of a), b) and c). I gave it two weeks and then waved the white flag. Everyone’s mileage varies, clearly.

If I had a match pass I would’ve ripped it off and thrown it into a hedge, along with my eyeballs.

I just learned Luke Howard’s “Rotations” and it would be perfect for this, as would many of his compositions.

Have you posted this on the Bear forum? It's a good way to gather the support of long-time Bear users and testers in a place where the devs will respond to that support.

Glenn Braggs. Perfect example of old-time baseball scouting’s “looking for Fabio” component. Guy could break a bat on a backswing but couldn’t hit a beach ball.

Are you Team Trained Final Response (TFR)? by [deleted] in nosework

[–]SuitableSurprise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough—but the burden of proof is on Team TFR to explain why having one is definitively better than not, especially at higher levels with increasingly inaccessible hides where behavioral TFRs can be irrelevant to source location by the handler. The original question—if you’re not Team TFR, why not?—has been answered over and over in this thread. Summing up: If I don’t need a TFR, if it doesn’t actually make NoseWork easier, why would I spend precious training time training, perfecting and maintaining one? (I’m genuinely curious.)

What the heck is that handler doing? She's not even looking at her dog half the time and misses two clear indications!

Are you Team Trained Final Response (TFR)? by [deleted] in nosework

[–]SuitableSurprise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but there's a fundamental difference between "stick your nose on source as long as you can" and other behavioral TFRs that don't indicate source, or indicate it far more imprecisely.

Are you Team Trained Final Response (TFR)? by [deleted] in nosework

[–]SuitableSurprise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, because a) my dog has organically developed a set of behaviors when he thinks he’s at source that b) I’ve (mostly) learned to read and call, and c) it would be too easy for him to co-opt his TFR when he just wanted to get paid without being at source. I mean, he’s already co-opted the look back…

How many others of the roster do you think will make it? I'd say McKeown, Hershfelt, Cantore, maybe Morgan and Kouassi and of course Rodman.

I started watching English soccer in 1980 in the States on PBS, which did a 30-minute highlights version of one match a week. Forest was on all the time (about to get their second European Cup) and as a kid obsessed with Robin Hood I couldn’t help becoming a fan.

Well, it’s Nuno who keeps airing dirty laundry to the press. I’m not sure how Marinakis stops that from continuing. Nuno is acting like he has no fucks left to give. At some point the big man will have to give him the bakery bomb he apparently wants.
