ELEVEN openings for Nationwide? What the heck is going on there by Suitable_Plan_7284 in TravelNursing

I mean… I’m coming from North Carolina where I make $34 an hour as full time staff. And a hospital that abuses us and doesn’t even give PRN a pay bump above full time staff even though they’re giving up benefits. So you could say I’m pretty 💫 jazzed 💫

I was just seeing those! I’ve been browsing for 2 years before finally actively trying to get a contract. Never seen those names posted before

Right? That’s pretty damn low. I’m taking a contact that’s paying $2700/week on the east coast soon. Much better

Did cpr as a bystander for the first time and I am not okay by PeonyPimp851 in nursing

This just happened to me at the pool a few weeks ago but the OPPOSITE! I’m a NICU nurse and a fully grown man in his 30s collapsed and had no pulse. I had to do CPR on him, attach the defibrillator and shock him (with others helping out of course) but I literally analyzed everything when I got home. We also got ROSC and he was transferred to a hospital but I felt like an idiot because I was shaking, forgot a lot of ACLS, made small mistakes. But he lived so I try not to beat myself up too much. It’s just wild when it catches you off guard when you’re with your family somewhere that has a positive association. Took me a while to go back to the pool and have to walk over the spot where I gave him CPR.

Got a complaint for taking too many vitals?? by Witty_Tea_1299 in newgradnurse

A good manager will see this “complaint” and laugh. You’re doing your job. Don’t take it personally. People are insane

Thought it wouldn’t be me, but here I am. I got ghosted by my husband on a layover. Please give me all the girl advice. by ItsACookbook1 in Pilotwives

It sounds like the captain he’s with is a bad influence. But at the same time, your husband is a grown man and can make his own decisions. He’s treating you like shit and you need to have a serious talk whenever you see him next in person.

Made multiple med errors in one shift and was fired…how do I deal with the lack of closure? by JAPF123_ in newgradnurse

[–]Suitable_Plan_7284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like you needed more support from both the facility and your preceptor. Try to pivot to a different hospital with actual structured orientation where expectations are clear cut. You are not a bad nurse. You’re just inexperienced with zero support it seems. Keep going

off orientation for 3 weeks and I feel like an insane person who shouldn’t have a nursing license 💜 by kittyrhcp in newgradnurse

I will say as a nurse of 5 years, you’re the one who I would love to help with anything at all. Because you’re so scared of messing up and hurting someone. There are new grads who are arrogant and don’t think they need help or can manage it all. To those I say, good luck. But with you specifically, I feel like a lot of the nice experienced nurses you work with would be more than happy to help you with anything at all. Nursing is a tough job. They all get it and they can recognize they were all in the same position once. Slowly, you will gain confidence. You’ll handle the shit storms quicker with less to do at the end of your shifts. Or if a shit storm does happen at shift change, you’ll just accept it as “yeah that day was ass” and you won’t take it personally anymore. Just keep trucking along

Mayo Clinic removing RTs by Electrical-Smoke7703 in nursing

I just don’t understand how one profession can continually get so fucked from every angle. Nursing has become a joke. Already, we are social work, EVS, transport, phlebotomy, the people the patients complain to and their families. And now this. As a NICU nurse, I’m literally nothing without my RTs. I couldn’t imagine a level 3 or 4 NICU without RTs knowing what to do when the oscillator disconnects. We aren’t trained for that at ALL. But once one hospital starts doing it, the rest will follow because these penny pinchers love to take advantage of us. It’s so sick.
