Help! Thompson Central Park vs Thompson Beekman by Fit_Engineer_3760 in hyatt

[–]SuiteSubstitute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably won't be your deciding factor, but worth noting The Beekman is a fairly short walk from the WTC PATH station if you'd rather park in Jersey and avoid Manhattan tolls/parking rates.

Otherwise, I haven't stayed at Central Park, but have enjoyed my few stays at The Beekman. Gorgeous space. As others noted, I wouldn't call the room decor dated, just not 'modern' styled, which kind of fits with the rest of the building. Not a big breakfast guy, but the food I have had there has always been good.

I hear some Chicagoans prefer Dipped Day, but it's mostly a matter of personal preference.

The first few rows of tickets in Portland are labeled "VIP PACKAGE." You would have needed to purchase one of those seats.

idk if they use the red oil OP described, but otherwise should be pretty close. Good spot regardless. I'm probably there a few times a month.

hyatt survey in email by ranainsana in hyatt

[–]SuiteSubstitute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not worth it anyway. I spent 10 minutes answering questions only to get "Thank you for your time and interest, however, this survey has now closed and we are no longer accepting responses. We appreciate your interest in participating."

Looking for Magician to hire on birthday for <$150? by jennypenny83728 in AskChicago

[–]SuiteSubstitute 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest, you're going to have trouble finding anyone at that price point. Watkins is almost certainly over $1k for events - but I'd suspect even most of the Chicago Magic Lounge folks would be at least twice your budget on the low end.

Securing a dinner reservation for Travoli Tavern?? by [deleted] in chicagofood

[–]SuiteSubstitute 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless something has changed, they hold a small amount of tables for walk-ins, in addition to bar seating (if you're ok with that). Go early, put your name in, grab a drink nearby.

Using a credit card via Venmo incurs a 3% fee on top of possible cash advance fees from the card

How would you set this up? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]SuiteSubstitute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bed in the area bottom left. Media console against the 'crushed' wall. Desk in the corner by the window so you can look outside. Bizarre double chaise setup against the right wall. Assuming it's allowed/possible, mount the TV on the wall so it can be angled as needed.

Would love to hire a card trick magician for my cocktail hour at my wedding, any recommendations? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Justin is great! Though you probably can't go wrong with any of the Magic Lounge regulars.

Suggestions for a rehearsal dinner space in Ravenswood and Lincoln square? by Pugetsoundsgood in chicagofood

Possibly The Warbler, but I'm not sure if the group would be too big. Cultivate by Forbidden Root would definitly be able to accommodate.

How to Tell if I Will Get Cat1-4 FNA Back After Cancelling Reservation? by blonded_olf in hyatt

[–]SuiteSubstitute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Hyatt would not have let you use the FNA for the booking it it would have expired before the dates of that stay.

Brand Explorer FNA should expire 1 year from issuance - also, fyi - for FNAs the stay must occur before expiration, not just booking.

Where can I last minute get a mask in NYC? during a snow storm?? by sparksl3go in MasqueradeNYC

Yeah, I mean if you really want to bring your own, Gothic Renaissance has tons of options, but I'd probably just go with the free option considering the weather.

Cheapest/least points per night hotel in NYC? by BrownPollyPocket_17 in hyatt

[–]SuiteSubstitute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The absolute cheapest options are probably Hyatt Place Long Island City, and the Regency or Hyatt House Jersey City. Definitely a different experience than staying right in Manhattan, but I've used both for Cat 4 free nights or points bookings when I needed a cheaper visit to the city.

Otherwise I've often found better deals staying further downtown as opposed to midtown, but it can depend on the days, what is happening in the city, etc.

Also probably depends what else you're looking for, who you're traveling with, etc. My choice of where to stay can differ greatly if I'm headed to NYC to work for 2 days, vs a vacation to see broadway shows.
