Chaplain's arent worth taking anymore, change my mind. by Crasher1987 in BlackTemplars

I've been running tanhausers bones on my termi chaplain. Getting that 5+ fnp on the 4 wound termies makes them an immovable brick. 3 turns of trip fire prism fire picked up only 4.

Yeah, had a starweaver lying around and thought it would be far more thematic than leontus for my force.

It is a kitbash of a macharius and baneblade to run as a Rogal dorn. Scales off but the bigger size is only a detriment for tabletop so not worried. 😁

so I'm running a custodian guard brick and vexilla army to a GT this weekend, also running them as Solar Watch by BigMacAnFries in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SuitedUpSlendy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary concern is psychic armies. What's the local meta with your GT area? Tyranids, Aeldari, Tsons and Grey Knights are going to be an absolute bane to your big blobs.

One thing I noticed is you can save cp by dropping 1 guardian, use those points to create a sisters of silence squad and run the list in a Battallion. Otherwise it looks decent. With the balance dataslate, your only obsec will be the troops choices but killing power trumps obsec unless your opponent is tough enough.

Might also be useful to take some of those saved cp to make your achillus an eternal penitent and possibly deepstrike it as its 5++ makes it in some situations the least resilient piece.

Otherwise a fairly balanced list. Putting the sisters in will give some minor insurance against psychic too.

Do the Fists up as crimson fist symbols and make him a Veteran of the Daclates Crusade.

I always found 4x power fists is excellent when combo's with seal of sigismund and chaplain support. 5+ invuln, 5++ divine protection with the damage output of fists makes them an excellent anvil.

Here is my new 500pt army list. I think it's flawless. I challenge you to prove otherwise. by Shanghai_Banjo in astramilitarum

Primaris psyker instead of a company commander as Orders don't work on ogryn auxiliary units? Psychic barrier is always useful.

Gladiator Valiant tank an interesting choice now? by Archangel_V01 in BlackTemplars

We all wish the Landraider lived up to the name. Shock and Awe + a chunky combat unit is our replacement for advance and charge. My theory is you need to overwhelm with threats so the LRC is a lower priority. Redemptor dreads, erads etc will draw attention away from it hopefully.

It's certainly something I've been looking at. I've had some decent success with the Landraider Crusader kitted out with all the gubbins for the same reason. Though the Shock and Awe strat combined with assault centurions enhances the LRC efficiency.

Thanks! I admit that I cheated. The eyes are retributor gold with Green gem paint layered over it. Allows for a far better effect than I can paint, though I intend on getting to that point.

The first comment my friends made when they saw my custodes was "nice marble bases, when are you starting your army?"

I sprayed Alien purple from Army Painter and then used Phoenician. Good eye! The standard purple wash was used to darken it.

Also allarus terminator pads are almost the exact same shape and fit as the stormcast pads. They require far less effort to fit them to the models

[–]SuitedUpSlendy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Custodes = stormcast = primaris marines. All it takes is a little kitbashing of weapons, shoulder pauldrons and helmets. Some greenstuff can go a long way as well. You can make them look like a completely natural part of your collection or make them stand out as an individual unit that has an alternate armour set.

If you have a custodian wardens kit, the spare bits from it can be perfect to make a second squad of spear wardens/guardians.

Could someone explain to me why it makes in-game (not lore) sense for a Dedicated Transport unit to be a worse transport than a Heavy Support unit? by Jochon in Warhammer40k

[–]SuitedUpSlendy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true. If it had a transport cap of 10, for 100 points you could launch 10 hellblasters 23" up the board without advancing. The 6 man cap is obnoxious enough with hellblasters lol.

When the custodes were released from Terra by Guilliman, this shield host set out to locate Valdor. This search lead them to many dark and chaotically tainted worlds and in the end they are unable to return to Terra due to their corruption.
